Dodd also re-opened the exapnsion talk after attending the Big Ten media days and writing the quote below. He might be full of crap.

'Big Ten expansion: It isn't done. That's about all I can say. Hint: The conference will begin negotiating on a new TV deal next year. The current contract expires in 2016. Definitely stay tuned.'

I never said Texas and/or OU was joining the Big Ten.

I said they met with the Big Ten last week with mutual interest in hooking up(no pun intended). Was Texas using the Big Ten for leverage? possibly. maybe they really want Pac-12 or the other Big XII members to submit. Maybe OU is keeping their options open. who knows.

They met with Kansas and possibly Missouri earlier this year as well.

If the Big Ten called KU would be in before Delaney could finish his offer. 100%,

KU is a contingent add though, need a splash school or market to add them.

You may say I'm a dreamer....but just imagine a football conference with 6 of the top 10 all time programs, and Basketball with IU,KU, Sparty, OSU, scUM, etc

Wrestling and Volleyball unmatched.

I doubt any kind of an offer was made. I'm sure they would jump on in a heart beat but KSU may be a road block.

Yeah, definitely not. KU would already have accepted.

Have not heard anything about KSU. I would imagine there would be a struggle. politicians in the state who went to KSU might have a fit.

Nah - the politicians here want nothing more than to cut state spending to as low as it can go. They slashed higher ed funding DRASTICALLY - they might want to cut a university or two

Seems like something is going on. Here is the entire quote.

'I know it may not be popular for me to say it. I don't believe that realignment is over. I don't have any evidence to prove my point. It's just a gut feeling.'

I got it from here. http://www.tulsaworld.com/site/printerfriendlyblog.aspx?articleid=21676&PrintComments=1

He says a lot of positive things about the Big 12 in this too. Could mean the Big 12 is looking to expand. Maybe the writing is on the wall with regard to 4 super conferences in this new upper division that will probably be formed with or without the NCAA. I hope not. More than 16 teams is too many. Seems like 5 conferences would be better.

I wonder if UT went balls to the wall and broke the GOR they could then say "You can't sue us, we have sovereign immunity." That would be a landmark case, especially in light of the Tech's screwing Leach.

Yup, and sovereign immunity is being passed around more in Texas than the keyboard cat meme. Wouldn't shock me to see this line of thought prevail...getting away with it...well, that's another thing.

This isn't a Texass problem--it's a SEC problem, and that won't go away as long as ESPN keeps hitching their gravy train to the SEC's biscuit wheels.

Had to +1 your post just because of this gem of a phrase :thumbs

Thanks. Just saw the movie the other night...one of my favorite comedies. :)

aren't they also in the middle of effing up the taxes there, gradually eliminating the income tax?

and whatever rock, chalk, gayhawk wants, they get since they are the flagship university of the state of kansas. yes, KU has effed over at least one other university in the state. so doing it again probably wouldnt be a thing.

I believe income taxes are only getting eliminated for the "job creators". Farmers, lawyers, and business owners...

South Dakota doesn't have an income tax, we're doing fine.

I thought this was an interesting piece about Texas. It might be relevant to the rumors.

Was going to re-post some of my favorite lines but that's pretty much the entire article.

Its fun to read about longhorn misery.

Agreed.

But let's remember that even if Whorn TV fails (which it is, and will ultimately), Texass still comes out smelling like a rose, as ESPN has to pay the balance on that contract at the time of cancellation.

But yes, Texass did sow the seeds of their current destruction. Having to play dirty pool to win (e.g. using the Commissioner's office, officials) really masks how bad of a program you truly are...and Texass fans are just now realizing this. Of course, they won't own up to the cheating and dirty pool--criminals never do--but at least it's out in the open for more than just Nebraska fans to see.

Read on texas sites they don't like their schedule that the current B12 offers (Kansas teams, Baylor, Tech etc) and the fear that the lack of CCG and weaker schedule could leave them out of the playoffs.

Check out their schedule this year.

About as unsexy as it gets. Not only that but they don't have any big names on the schedule besides OU and no conference champ game.
