Guy Chamberlin
Honestly? I thought Bo's first "how the f#*k does that happen?" to Paps was pretty funny. Couldn't have said it better myself. When it was still going on the the fourth quarter, a lot less so. When Bo was screaming at a ref with :24 seconds left in a game we should be celebrating, it starts to get a bit dysfunctional. I'd have a lot more respect for Bo if he fired Papuchis today and took over the defense himself. Right now he's asking his defensive players to show up on Monday and play for Papuchis, a man Bo doesn't appear to respect himself and pretty much casterated in front of the team during a game. As a head coach and defensive specialist, Bo shouldn't be surprised by anything Paps does on a Saturday. And yeah, I'm perfectly aware of how Saban yells at players and how Bob Devaney used to, but what Bo is doing now isn't a good look for the Husker family. It just isn't. And it has nothing to do with TV cameras going after him unfairly. Please. The Bo Hating and the Bo Rationalizing on this board runs pretty much neck and neck. So I'm sure the truth is in the middle. By the way, there's a good reason why out-of-state neighbors and women not liking Bo Pelini matters. Anyone want to take a guess? Quote Link to comment

I agree with all of this. I also think it was pretty evident that Bo worked with the defense quite a bit during the bye. I think he has to find someone to teach what he wants done out there. The defense was noticeably different though. Especially up front. We finally unleashed the hounds and didn't play scared. It was good to see, and I don't think I can credit Paps with it at all. Even during what Bo even called a decent defesnive effort, Paps still got his ass chewed the entire game. It's not a good look for Bo, for Paps, or for Nebraska to have that ongoing throughout the game. If I had to find a negative from yesterday, I guess that would be it. Quote Link to comment

Ooh ooh I know! Is it because we wont get good recruits? Like the #1 RBS out of TX and CA?? Or a top 5 JUCO D Lineman? Or guys like Bell, Abdullah, Stanton, Armstrong? Is that it? np_husker
JP is in over his head, but he can only do what he can do. It's Bo's fault for hiring a friend instead of a real DC. And how many of you would like to be chewed out buy your boss in front of the world? Quote Link to comment
lo country
The problems we had today with the run were pursuit angles and really nothing more. Not nearly as many missed assignments. <snip> Pursuit angles pursuit angles pursuit angles. More bad angles from C Cooper. Really not sure why everyone keeps saying he's playing well. He might be playing the best of any of them but that's not saying a lot. Though Green was better today and Alexander showed promise. I need to watch it again, but I noticed with CC that he would take his pursuit angle, but either our DE or OLB wouldn't maintain outside leverage so it made it look like CC was the culprit. Gregory doesn't set the edge very well at all against the run. I see why he doesn't get a BlackShirt. No. Several times he's come up to make a play only to get out-flanked. Needs to take wider angles. Sadly, Ruud mentioned specifically in 2003 that Bo taught him "pursuit angles" that allowed him to play much faster. No idea why we look how we do. Perhaps Bo, as HC, can't be all places at once.......... Quote Link to comment
MichiganDad3
I get that Mr. A. In fact I was one who thought they might light us up. But that belief was based solely on comments on HB about how good Sheelhaase and their offense were. I hadn't watched them play one down before today. Hell I picked them for the upset in the game prediction forum. Boy do I feel stupid after seeing what little they had to offer today. Sure some of that was because our D played better (thankfully) but I also got the distinct impression I had been misled about Sheelhaases capabilities. If he would've thrown as much as I expected, we would've picked him a couple more times and would've destroyed them. But they went to the run a lot and we had some very real noticeable problems with that. Overall I'm pleased because our D seems to be moving in the right direction. I'm just concerned it might not be quick enough for our opponent in three weeks. Last year the Husker D was ranked in the 70s after four games. Going into the CCG the ranking had improved to mid thirties. This is what has me skeptical. Bo never seems to lock in the improvement. He always seems to have a few bad defensive games. Even his MNC season at LSU had two losses with bad defensive performances. Don't get me wrong, I would be happy with only two losses, whatever the cause, but Bo seems to be stuck on four losses. True2tRA
Thanks for reeling me back in Michigandad3. I was starting to get a bit enthusiastic and positive about this team. You have a point though, we've seen this all before. Can we at least be 6-1 before the melt down begins when Northwestern comes here? Then at least I can get really excited, the team can be ranked in the top 15 maybe? Then they can really really crush my hopes. Quote Link to comment
PaulCrewe
Bo was letting the ref have it because that crew wanted to get out of there and were not standing over the ball to let NU make defensive subs to match Illinois subs. It was bs and led to what appeared to be a subbing snafu by the staff. So that doesn't bother me one bit. 2 Quote Link to comment
HUSKER FREAK
What about ANY COACH? You know what it's called? It's called coaching. Sorry, no. It's one way to coach. Some coaches can get away with it. Others can't. Others never ever look out of control in front of their players. You know who's shaking their head at Bo Pelini? Coaches. Yeah maybe the girls flag football teams coaches Quote Link to comment
