Recruiting Concerns

Recommended Posts

I think there is a " feeling" that the current coaching staff will not survive for long and I am sure that recruits are hearing that information from other schools. I also am a bit concerned by the recruits we are committing simply by who the recruit is attracting. Looking over this list of the current recruits, you notice that very few if any have attracted top tier schools. So this is just not a recruiting service ranking these guys and missing but other schools are not taking serious interest in these guys as well. Not saying the sky is falling but if I was running a race, I would want a barn full of thoroughbreds instead a barn full of mules,*No disrespect intended* If this staff had a history of developing un song players and turning them into monsters, I might feel a little better.. But that has not been the case not withstanding a few exceptions just my 2 cents

I think there is a minority of fans having that feeling and I think you're a part of that minority. No matter how hard you try to make it seem like most of us want Pelini out, it won't change the fact that he'll get at least another year here.

I think that your entire comment here is so misinformed, generalized, and that it misses the target by a mile.

Couldn't have said that last sentence any better....agree.

Except he's partly right. We've lost a commit because of it. At least so I was told over a lunch convo.

What recruit would that be?

Not worried about a recruit that won't come to Nebraska just because they lose a couple games this year. Facilities, coaches, current roster, roster in 2 years, academics, and college itself has bigger sway on most recruits...so if a guy is upset because Nebraska played the number 16 team in the nation to the 4th quarter...let him go.

That wasn't the reason. It was because he was told by a fan Bo was probably going to get fired in the next year. The staff is working to keep him today.

I heard the same from Bo's aquarium guy. It's true. Quit questioning the man.

So with our coaching staff putting together another solid recruiting class, where's the rub? Everyone who wants Bo gone and also agree we've been recruiting better as of late should also acknowledge the delicate situation the class is being recruited under. Staff turnover means this class could be decimated. What say the Bo haters as pertaining to coaching continuity in regards to recruiting?

Not a Bo hater but you never make long term decisions based on a recruiting class. With that said, if you were ever going to make a decision based on a recruiting class (which let me reiterate is completely the dumbest thing ever), this would be the class to do so. This is setting up to be one of Bo's worse rated classes. Two of the top 3 players have a greater chance to not see the field than they do have a chance of seeing the field. If you take those 2 guys off the list, or even Monte Harrison, we are ranked like 60th. We have been ranked in the 15-22 range the last couple years, keeping a coach in order to keep one of the worst rated classes in the last 20 years is not a thought in anyone's mind.

what's it like to always see the glass completely empty? it has been mentioned numerous times, throughout this thread and the recruiting board, that come signing day this class should be ranked along the lines of the other classes, in the 15-25 range. so while the class, in november, doesnt look all that appealing you still have until february to make up ground. also with this class it is around half full and many of the teams ahead of them have full classes. it is much harder for them to move up since that requires a bump up to their recruits whereas, depending on the ranking of the recruit, nebraska will most likely move up each time they add a recruit.

letting bo go at the end up the season, the new staff will have to re-recruit the players they feel fit their needs from the existing recruits. on top of that they have to go out and find more to fill out their class. if bo is gone after the iowa game the new staff has a bowl game to prepare for, unless ADSE decides to decline the invite (dumb idea all the way around) or the NCAA grants nebraska a waiver to hire a HC and his staff while retaining the other coaches through the bowl game.

you're welcome for the stupidly long post to add to your incomplete comment telling you things you already knew but chose to ignore.

Love the simple logic. Obvious (though some need it spelled out) and factual.

Not necessarily a "concern" but Tyler Wullenwaber, Donovan Vestal and Walker Ashburn have been placed on medical hardship (all three were juniors this year). Thus, three more schollys available.

So with this anyone know the size of class they would like to take? Could we be looking over 25?

I haven't heard recently but as we lost a couple players before the season and now three more, it could be up there. It seems that we were looking at 21-22 early on but that could be closer to 25 now.
