Win out!

Recommended Posts

A few games ago a lot of us thought we had the worst defense ever. Wins over Illinois and Purdue really didn't prove much. Let's beat a quality opponent first.

It is still up for debate. Very similar to me as the Chef's. If they beat Denver by playing well then Chef fans will know what they got. I am still in the "is this a fluke" phase. When the Huskers show up and beat a good OSU team I will know. Until then, we will see them against some teams that will either show the improvement or expose our issues. Wait and see. Hopeful.

Pretty spot on...

I'm not completely sold on the defense or their capability to play a "complete" game...

Now, if they go to Ann Arbor, beat Michigan 24 -7 or close to that, then I think our team will start scaring people again...

But right now, I think we'd all like some semblance of consistency...

Can this team win out. Sure it can, but if you are looking for a 24-7 win over Michigan in the big house as validation that the team is any good, you may not get that.

The defense is getting better you can see that, or at least I can see that. They are thinking less and that makes them play faster and more aggressively. You are right about the consistency, for the last 2 and a half games they have played fairly consistently. I just want to see them keep getting better.

When they play a good offense, like a Michigan has, they are not going to completely shut them down. Hopefully they get enough timely stops to win the game. In this age of football I think it is impossible for a defense to completely shut down every time. The rules and the style of play just doesn't allow for it. Even really good defenses won't do it all the time.

I think it's funny how people forget what Illinois offense has done this year and how we just shut them down.

The defense will only continue to get better.

But games against the Illini and Purdue are games we're supposed to dominate. I hope the defense improves as well, because we're going to need it for the last 5 games, and they're going to need to step up big time...

Purdue yes. Illinois, not so much. We weren't supposed to dominate Illinois if you recall the pregame chatter and stats.

Illinois is one people were wondering if we could win. Remember, their defense was 15 spots higher ranked than ours was when we played them. Not to mention, they have a pretty damn good offense....and they use tons of motion, crossing/drag routes in the hook zone, and various formations. The only opponent that beat them and has clamped down more than Nebraska is Washington which held them for 50 less yards output than the Blackshirts did....even Wisconsin didn't hold them as much as we did. Wisconsin's defense is pretty salty.

I'd say people were genuinely worried before the Illinois game. Not to mention, Illinois fans smelled blood after watching how poorly we played in the games previous. We were 99th in the nation in 20+ yard plays allowed and the Illini were 19th in creating those plays. That wasn't a favorable matchup. There was a lot to worry about and people definitely didn't think we'd dominate. Predictions: http://www.huskermax..._predict13.html

What I mean is...people didn't think that Nebraska was just going to dominate Illinois...and they had no notion that we should dominate them in this game.

How quickly we forget that Illinois offense is pretty prolific and we shut it down. I'm going to be very interested in their game with MSU this weekend to see how they do against that "awesome" MSU defense.

Spot on about Illinois.

Lots of people were very worried about that game coming into it. It is amazing how soon we forget. :ahhhhhhhh I too am interested to see how the Illinois/MSU game turns out. MSU has a great defense, no doubt about it, but they have not play a real good offense yet. Would not surprise me a bit if Illinois won the game. Though I wouldn't take the bet.

My money is on Illinois this weekend. MSU's D is good, but so is Illinois offense, and I don't see MSU keeping them under 20. MSU's offense can't score. My prediction - Illinois 24 MSU13, giving us full control of our fate and the lead in the division assuming we beat Minny.

MSU's defense is better than ours. Illinois will be lucky to score 7, imo.

Even if we win out this season...clear through the rose bowl, we'd still be ranked behind 3 or 4 two or three loss SEC teams, doubtful we'd crack the top 10.

Now, I'm thinking if we win out, lose the CCG then win in a bowl game....and win "well" through the MSU game next fall..that'll be when we finally crack the top 10.

One small step at a time..

Win out the regular season and we might be 15th for the CCG. Win the CCG, and we'll move up a spot or two for the bowl game-just because. Remember, the Big10 has this perception nationwide as a "bad" conference. Winning out in conference will not gain anything in that regard. Winning out and winning the bowl against a touted Pac12 team is where the hay will be made. That's an accomplishment that could put us up 4-6 spots just by winning that game.

Like when they held Indiana to 30?

Indiana has probably the best offense in the Big Ten, to be honest. They've scored a ton of points this season.
