The correct answer is

 

A. Shovel

 

Or Utah pass if you were a college football fan in 1957

 

The others are incorrect as fans simply misheard "Shovel" as "Shuffle" or "Shuttle"

 

And yes, Tom Osborne used this to great effect with Ahman Green in the mid 1990s

 

 

I've heard a number of coaches and announcers call it a shuffle pass. I thought the first person (that didn't know football) I ever heard call it that was an idiot, but I've since heard it enough times not to question it.

 

It might not be an official term, but words become acceptable for whatever usage they are put to by enough people.

i think that's about the last time it actually worked, too

 

It was set up perfectly. He's just got to catch it and take off down the field.

He had a big drop on an option play earlier in the year didn't he? Same kind of deal.

 

When you don't get a lot of touches, you've gotta make the most of what you get. Was less than impressed w/ Newby this year - considering how well some of our recent freshman backs have performed.
