Scratchtown
Surprised no one else has mentioned or even talked about Burroughs. Its not even close. Olympic Gold Medalist in the sport of wrestling. No sport requires the kind of "in shape" that wrestling does. Quote Link to comment

I'm 38 yrs old and he's probably the best running back I've seen. Russ Hochstein told me a stories of how physically gifted he was and he didn't disappoint on the field. Quote Link to comment
deedsker
Suh, a d-lineman who could play soccer! Quote Link to comment
VA Husker Fan
I forgot to add Ahman. What a bolt of lightening. In my mind you have to play more than one sport to be considered in the best athlete dialogue, which eliminates Suh. Suh grew up playing soccer. Even if he didn't, I don't see that it has to eliminate him. As far as he throws QBs, you don't think he could toss the shot or discus? In fact a quick Wiki check shows that he did throw it in HS. What second sport did Ahman play? HS track, same as Suh? I could also make a case for Roger Craig. Hurdler in HS along with his FB, and after his pro career he ran some marathons and half marathons, which is quite a bit different than the quick burst speed a running back tries to optimize. I am I
Tom Rathman. Dude ran a 4.5 40 avg something like 8.4 ypc senior season. Caught the ball, blocked, won Super Bowls. Oh, and he high jumped like 7'6". Quote Link to comment
