Guy Chamberlin
Only three games into the season. Gotta think a couple of these guys will drop off the board, and a couple unlisted players will have breakthrough games and seasons. Quote Link to comment

QMany
College GameDay @CollegeGameDay 3m Ameer Abdullah is the only Power Five RB with at least 900 rushing yards inside and outside the tackles since the start of last season. Quote Link to comment

Mavric
Obviously AA is great. But this stat also says a lot about our OLine: Abdullah finds the correct running lane. He has 83 rushes in which first contact was not made until 5 yards past the line of scrimmage, tied with Washington’s Bishop Sankey for the most by any Power Five player. Quote Link to comment

Wait a minute....if I read this board, all I read is that he is constantly dodging defenders in the back field and has to fight for everything he gets all on his own. 1 Quote Link to comment

All of our offensive lines technical and schematic abilities doesn't mean anything unless our guys turn defensive tackles into literal pancakes. (Jokes aside, there have been times I've yelled at Kondolo, Price, and Moudy from my couch for missed assignments, but that's much more rare than the great blocks I've seen Lewis and Cotton make) Quote Link to comment
junior4949
Considering Fresno State allows 5.09 yards per rush and Florida Atlantic allows 6.8 yards per rush, AA's and the OL stats might be a bit skewed. In fact, Fresno State thus far has the worst rated defense in D1. I don't know how you'd compare McNeese State's defensive performance in there considering they are FCA, but AA didn't have great rushing stats in the game. AA is a great player, but our OL is not a great group. They couldn't even push around a FCA defense. Armstrong is going to have to light up the place with his passing in order for AA to have Heisman type numbers now that we get into the teeth of the schedule. Quote Link to comment

I'm not going to argue that FA or FSU have great defenses. However, one problem with looking at stats of your opponents after only 3 games (with ours being one)is that your offense makes up a third of those stats. Meaning, if we have a great offense, it is automatically going to make all teams look horrible statistically we have played this early in the season. That being said, we have given up one sack for 2 yards and have the 7th best rushing attack in college football after 3 games. Now, we might get against Miami, MSU and Wisconsin and they might not do well. But, it's too early to say. Quote Link to comment
junior4949
I totally get that, but if we're to make a big deal how many rushes he's had where he didn't get touched for five yards then we have to consider that nearly every defense we've faced thus far allows more than five yards per rush. I'm not stepping on Ameer at all. I'm overly concerned about our OL. I don't see them as the dominant group some do. We haven't had good/great OL play since the Dominic Riola era. We've had some decent OL players since then, but they haven't been very good as a group. Quote Link to comment

It is too early to tell about this group. But, I don't see a reason to condemn them after only three games with the statistical rankings our team has. Quote Link to comment
