Nebraska is averaging an FBS-high 8.9 yards per rush on first down, including an FBS-high nine 20+ yard runs. #MIAvsNEB

Compare that to Miami who is 117th in the nation in Average Distance to Go on 3rd Down at 8.6 yds. Which means their first two down are usually atrocious, and they have only converted 8 third downs this season (22.9% 3rd Down Conversion).

This is what our D should be doing after reading that stat:

They are also tied with 10 other teams at #113 in TO Lost (3 fumbles, 5 INT), tied with 17 other teams at #70 in Sacks Allowed giving up 6 total (4 of the 6 coming on either 1st or 2nd down), and mid of the pack and tied with 7 other teams at #65 in TFL Allowed giving up 17 total for 68 yds (5.67 yds avg).

At Miami, OL play is not great and a true freshman QB have lead to a rather ineffective and undisiciplined offense.

With these stats it will be interesting to see as part of our DL depth rotation if we see McMullen slide in to DT at times with both Gregory and M Newby as part of a rush end package.

We were doing that against Fresno on occasion.

Yea, I saw it......Newby and Gregory both have excellent closing speed. Hopefully Newby is as sure of a tackler as Gregory.......though I'll give McMullen credit for creativity for grabbing the quarterback's non throwing hand to bring him down.

I remember seeing that. I'd never seen a QB taken down like that before. McMullen must be strong as hell.
