Popular Post walksalone
No matter how much MR sucks this year, he's not going anywhere. Even if he finds a way to go 2-10, he'll still be here next year. Only way he gets fired this year if they catch him dropping a deuce in TO's yard, punching an old lady from Ord, or telling the guys in North Platte to STFU. He'll be here next year if he gets them to a bowl at 7-5 or 8-4. And the Rileyists will crow he's bringing us "back". He'll be gone if they're 6-6 or worse. Unless he performs some sort of miracle, with MR at the helm, this is at best, a 8-4 program, maybe 9-3. Through 5 games, I haven't seen anything to lead me to believe he knows what he's doing. From the offensive play calling, to the "who's the RB gonna be this week", to the inability to stop the pass, are evidence of this. In Corvallis, he was tucked away, in the middle to bottom tier of the Pac10/12, where an 8 or 9 win season was good enough. I think he may have bitten off more than he can chew coming here. What would have led to a few grumbles at Or St, turns to pitchforks and angry mobs in Lincoln. We're stuck with him for the minimum of 2 years. I wish I could see some evidence of this getting turned around, but I can't. 12 Quote Link to comment
NUance
All true, Walks. And even the people like me who support Riley are a bit dismayed by some of the things we've seen so far. Like clock management. And boneheaded moves at the end of games. And incredibly weak pass coverage. But it doesn't help things to be calling for Riley's head at this stage. It's just not going to happen. I guess we just have to hope that Riley fixes the on-field problems. Pronto. And pulls in a decent recruiting class. This season is pretty much in the toilet. We just need to muddle through and get better for next year. 4 Quote Link to comment
Hunter94
6-6 would get us to the Hersheys/Snickers Bowl.......and a lot more practice time which we need to develop the team. Quote Link to comment
VectorVictor
6-6 would get us to the Hersheys/Snickers Bowl.......and a lot more practice time which we need to develop the team. But with the coaching we have, 6-6 is not looking very likely. Even games like Purdue are now no longer a sure thing with the way the staff has been "coaching". And even if we make a bowl game...is anyone really going to be excited about it and go? Quote Link to comment
BaytownHusker
We are going to have MR for at least 4 years.. Even with a below .500 record. You think he beats Oregon, Ohio St or any other winning programs in the next 4 years? Quote Link to comment

bdubb75
At this point, I don't see us going 6-6. With the games remaining, I see it like this: Wisconsin - L Minnesota - L Northwestern - L Purdue - W Mich St - L Rutgers - W Iowa - L So, being 2-3 now I see us being 4-8 or maybe 5-7. It's going to be a long season. 3 Quote Link to comment

Right. Not saying I won't watch, and if it were close by, I'd go. But yeah, no one is going to be excited to be playing in the FightHunger.com bowl or the Bell Helicopter bowl. :-| Quote Link to comment

I've never seen you in the recruiting section, ever. That statement is a complete lie. I understand being upset - everyone is right now. But you've thrown this line around multiple times since Saturday and it's just plain false. 4 Quote Link to comment
Redux
I have absolutely no faith we beat Wisconsin this week. So we will probably win by 17. I actually envision is finishing 4-8. That makes me physically sick on so many levels. 1 Quote Link to comment

But you've thrown this line around multiple times since Saturday and it's just plain false. Just checked rivals and we are in fact ranked 40th. The rest I'm not sure about. With attrition I'd assume that we have 10 or so open slots, but we really aren't in on that many highly rated recruits, from my understanding. While his recruiting is slightly better here than at OSU, it's not yet better than his predecessor. And let's also not forget that the previous staff got 2 of the highest rated players in this class. 2 Quote Link to comment
