ColoradoHusk
Looks like he is on track to join KC in 2016 or 2017. The kid is an amazing athlete, and the article says his defense is major league ready. I am sure the Royals hope Bubba will be able to move into the starting CF role in 2018, as Lorenzo Cain is signed through 2017 and will probably get big bucks in the free agent market. http://www.omaha.com/sports/blogs/big-league-debut-for-bubba-starling-possible-in/article_134cd786-d675-11e5-8cad-bfaead53d9ca.html Quote Link to comment
OH HSKR FAN
What year of eligibility would he be at if he chose football? Quote Link to comment
ColoradoHusk
What year of eligibility would he be at if he chose football? He would have all his eligibility left if he were to come back to school, but that's probably never going to happen. His present and future is in baseball. Quote Link to comment
StPaulHusker
He would have been done with football by now had he started in 2011 Quote Link to comment

mrandyk
I don't care if he plays for KC in 2016, decides to retire, or suddenly loses a limb he made the right choice with baseball. Enough guaranteed cash to be set for life right out of high school? Yeah that's the right way to go. Quote Link to comment
Redux
I remember that before the 2014 season, some beat writers were still predicting he would end up coming here. Quote Link to comment
TonyStalloni
A local kid on the Royals roster would be a marketing boon to the team. If he has acquired the hitting skills necessary his star is going to take off. Quote Link to comment
BigRedBuster
These situations are frustrating. I honestly hope Nebraska doesn't get commitments from these guys again unless we already have the position filled, have room in the class for a long shot like this...etc. This kid and the kid who committed to Solich only to go play baseball (can't remember his name) do nothing more than make the recruiting class look better than it really is and possibly leaves a gap in the position in recruiting. I wish this kid all the best in the world and love it that, if he were to play football, he would have come to Nebraska. But....just don't have a desire to be in these situations in the future. And...yes....he made the right decision for him. Quote Link to comment
Mavric
I think Carl Crawford is who you're thinking of. I don't have any problem recruiting these guys. Try to get the best talent you can. I see your point about being full at a position but usually we end up with at least one spot open. In this case, it's not like it hurt us at QB. Would have been great to have him but we had Carnes the year before, had Turner is this class and got TA the next year. Not all those guys ended up working out but we had options at the time. Plus we had Martinez so we knew we had a couple years yet. Quote Link to comment
Mavric
It's really not that different than saving a spot for Dez Fitzpatrick or Isaiah Simmons and losing out at the last minute with no time to get a replacement. Quote Link to comment
ColoradoHusk
If you don't recruit guys who could go play other sports professionally, then you are limiting yourself on the talent and athleticism that you can bring in. I wonder how much of this will matter going forward, as it seems like more and more kids are being told to specialize in one sport at younger and younger ages. That's truly the bad part about it, is that a kid may be 12-14 years old and told "You can't play baseball any more because you need to concentrate on being a QB and playing on summer 7 on 7 teams if you want to think about getting a college scholarship".
