Hunter94
the fact that we took Tanner Lee should tell you this position is anything but established....... 1 Quote Link to comment
Mavric
Wait, I thought once we had a real QB coach these guys wouldn't need to get extra lessons. Quote Link to comment
drfish
While they were loosened a little bit last year, the NCAA direct contact hour limitations are still in effect. 1 Quote Link to comment

theknife
High praise from the qb coach on Bush. 2017 is going to be a fun Spring! Quote Link to comment
suh_fan93
Bush reminds me a little bit of Devin Gardner with that lanky stride. He didn't look too bad in the spring game. Quote Link to comment
Redux
I thought he looked ten fold better this Spring compared to last. Hope he surprises me moving forward, I've never expected him to contend for starting time. Quote Link to comment
onlyHskrfaninIL
they should put together a wildcat package for AJ this year 1 Quote Link to comment
Guy Chamberlin
Those were some pretty exciting runs AJ Bush was ripping off, but if he continues to hold the ball that way he's poised to become yet another turnover machine. 1 Quote Link to comment
Mavric
they should put together a wildcat package for AJ this year Considering our starting QB runs at least as well, I'm not sure that's needed. Quote Link to comment

Both these comments could be correct: Mav for 2016 OHIL for a year later It could be a good look in 2017. I think most opponents would scout us and know Bush is a backup quarterback, so the element of surprise from a passing standpoint isn't really there. However, Florida utilized Tebow in a Wildcat-type package with success, so there are some options available. Quote Link to comment
girlknowsfootball
Bush has all the tools to be a starter for us in 2017 if he can put it all together. He has great vision when running, lateral juking ability to make guys miss, awesome arm strength, the height to see the field and the big body to take a pounding, and he seems to be learning a lot about pro offense. I really think he is developing nicely and with another year could be right in the thick of things for the battle. I'm pumped for 2017 because we will have Lee, Bush, O'Brien, and Gebbia all battling it out to start. Can you imagine next year's spring game where we get to see Lee, O'Brien, and Gebbia all really for the first time. (Most of us didn't see Patrick's limited play in the spring game and it was so limited with 3rd string I don't count it). That is a heck of a competition because all 4 could start somewhere. Lee already started 2 years at Tulane. Bush has been growing quickly and I've seen dramatic improvement in a short amount of time, and the young guys were top 10 pro style QB recruits! Mavric
I don't think Bush will ever play a meaningful snap barring a rash of injuries. He has a long, slow delivery and it's particularly accurate. Quote Link to comment

I mostly agree. I've noticed over the last several months that when people have QB conversations there are often at least a couple of people who say 'don't forget about AJ Bush - he'll have something to say about the QB competition.' While that may technically be true, I just don't see that translating to him ever being more than the 2nd string QB. He doesn't have the wealth of experience that assisted TA in maintaining the starter position. He also, as you said, isn't particularly accurate. Quote Link to comment
