Red Five
In your opinion, what would you consider a success for the Blackshirts vs Oregon? Less than 500 total yards? Less that 40 points? 3 or more TOs? Just getting a W? 2016 Oregon Offense vs UC-Davis 251 rushing yards / 6.8 ypc 271 passing yards / 9.0 ypa 522 total yards / 7.8 ypp 53 points 2016 Oregon Offense vs Virginia 301 rushing yards / 6.7 ypc 331 passing yards / 10.7 ypa 662 total yards / 8.3 ypp 44 points 2015 Oregon Offense Average 280 rushing yards / 5.9 ypc 258 passing yards / 9.0 ypa 538 total yards / 7.1 ypp 43 points 1 Quote Link to comment
commando
the oregon offense has made a lot of very good defenses look bad over the years so a win is enough for me this game. 1 Quote Link to comment
grandpasknee
Holding them to fewer points than we get. 4 Quote Link to comment
BIG ERN
Keep them under 425 yards and we will win the game 1 Quote Link to comment
ADS
Less than 40 points and that could be considered a success. Especially since Nebraska should be able to score 35+ on their leaky defense. Quote Link to comment
ColoradoHusk
McKewon and Nyatawa discuss the defense vs. Oregon on this week's Pick 6 Podcast. They said that you won't be able to completely shut down Oregon, but NU should look to try and make Oregon less efficient. One measure to look at is points per possession. If NU can hold Oregon to FG's or no points on a possession altogether, that would be a win for the defense. The focus should be on stopping the run first. NU might be able to get a few 3 and outs that way. Their WR's are awesome though and NU will have to realize that they are gonna give up some big plays. The key will be how the defense responds to giving up those big plays. I also hope that Langsdorf/Riley don't try to respond with big plays and focus on getting first downs and controlling the clock to help out the defense. My worst fear is NU giving up a big play, the offense going back out and going 3 and out, a bad punt by Lightbourn, and then closed out with another quick score by Oregon. 3 Quote Link to comment
ColoradoHusk
Keeping them under 150 yards rushing would be huge for NU. As far as points, 33 is my over/under on whether the D is successful for the game. Quote Link to comment
BaytownHusker
A win is all i want here. We will have to win a shootout to win this one. Quote Link to comment
Red Five
Keeping them under 150 yards rushing would be huge for NU. As far as points, 33 is my over/under on whether the D is successful for the game. Both those seem to be tough benchmarks. If we somehow do both, we win hands down IMO. They only rushed for under 150 once last year (lost to MSU). A better benchmark might be 200. They were 3-2 in those games (wins UW, ASU, USC, losses to MSU, TCU) They scored under 33 points 3 times last year (lost to MSU, Utah, won UW). Quote Link to comment
Saunders
Limit explosive (over 20 yards) and chunk plays (10-20 yards). Do that, and they've got a great shot to win. Quote Link to comment
Red Five
I was talking to my dad on the phone last night and he brought up a discussion he heard/read somewhere about the refs. They going to be Pac12 refs, and they are more liberal with regards to not making the offense be set for a full second before a snap and not giving the D as much time to sub when the O subs, since they see more of these types of offenses. Pedro Guerrero
Keep them under 425 yards and we will win the game Since 2013 when Helfrich took over they have only been held under 425 yards 3 times. 2013 against Cal they had 381 yards but scored 55 and got the W. In 2015 against Utah they had 400 yards & 20 points and against TCU they had 419 yards & 41 points (both losses). Keeping them under 425 will be tough. 1 Quote Link to comment

Red Five
Here is last year's Oregon offensive output, ordered by worst to best. I don't think it makes too much sense to go back any further since Mariota was a boss.
