Precisely. You would literally have to sterilize the air to make it too clean, something that is far from possible anyway. Link to comment

commando
the science deniers are at it again https://www.theguardian.com/science/2017/nov/05/donald-trump-accused-blocking-satellite-climate-change-research The row has erupted after a key polar satellite broke down a few days ago, leaving the US with only three ageing ones, each operating long past their shelf lives, to measure the Arctic’s dwindling ice cap. Scientists say there is no chance a new one can now be launched until 2023 or later. None of the current satellites will still be in operation then. The crisis has been worsened because the US Congress this year insisted that a backup sea-ice probe had to be dismantled because it did not want to provide funds to keep it in storage. Congress is currently under the control of Republicans, who are antagonistic to climate science and the study of global warming. Link to comment
zoogs
Committed climate science denier inexplicably given a mic by the NYT Bret Stephens proudly claiming some #NeverTrump street cred for himself. Sure, that's nice, but let's throw an asterisk on "principles" so we know to check the footnote for what that fidelity he's talking about actually entails. 1 Link to comment

The only thing good about this is that it could be the tip of the iceberg on Trump "supporters" that will increasingly try to distance themselves once it becomes politically expedient to do so. Like parasites trying to find a new host. Link to comment
TGHusker
Interesting and alarming article. Maybe the Donald shouldn't have backed out of that Paris agreement https://www.thesun.co.uk/tech/4904635/15000-scientists-sign-warning-to-humanity-letter-detailing-the-grim-future-of-our-planet/ ORE then 15,000 scientists from around the world have signed a terrifying letter warning of an imminent apocalypse. The message is called "Warning to Humanity" and is an ominous vision of the grim fate awaiting our planet. The message updates an original Warning from the Union of Concerned Scientists, which was made in 1992. Now the global scientific community's view of the future is even bleaker. Apart from the hole in the ozone layer, which has now been stabilised, every one of the major threats identified in 1992 has worsened. Runaway consumption of precious resources by an exploding population remains the biggest danger facing humankind, say the scientists. Link to comment

Fru
Is it just a little ironic that Trump lifted the ban on importing the remains of the animal that symbolizes his party? 2 Link to comment

Kiyoat Husker
I know it is a little hard to agree with if you are conservation-minded, like myself, but there actually is an argument that can be made for trophy hunting being beneficial for promoting the conservation of these animals. (if done responsibly) It creates a powerful monetary incentive to keep populations healthy. Much more money than could have been made through poaching. With that being said, Trump has not commissioned any study on the subject, or done any research whatsoever. All he knows is that the NRA opposed the ban, and Obama created the ban. Those two reasons alone are enough for him to act. There are all kinds of red flags with regard to these two countries in terms of governmental corruption, and past failure to regulate poaching, etc. This was the wrong way to "see if it works" oops, I guess it didn't work after all - all the elephants are dead. Oh, well. Link to comment
