Ok I'll say whatever I want. He doesn't know this is the reason, and the graphic shows Trump's % increased by 5 in 2016 vs. 2 in 2020. And Trump's lead right now is -6 points vs. 4 points in 2016.

I would say I'd take 2020 except I don't think Trump will honor the results and I think 2016 was the last real election this country had in the foreseeable future. Hopefully I'm wrong.

I trust you on number crunching. :thumbs

There's a lot of really stupid punditry out there right now (including Shermichael, who wears the many hats of political analyst/op-ed writer/Youtube politics guy/podcaster) and a lot of it is extrapolated on ONE poll released after the convention showing a very modest swing of +4 to Trump intermingled with what all these genius pundits THINK is probably the case.

Biden's still winning that poll by 6 and there's minimal evidence backing up what these megaminds are saying.

Anyone thinking Trump is worse off than 2016 at this point deserves a big lol.

you are right.   trump has the courts packed,  sycophants in control of the senate, an army of far right wingers who will fight for or him, and a fair portion of the house who are sycophants.   and a vast propaganda network to spread the disinfo.    i really don't think the vote matters at this point....trump is our  dictator for life already.

Guessing you'll get a laugh emoji because you sound so ridiculous, then once Trump does become dictator NDJ will say well he had to do it to stop the liberal socialist antifa dems from doing it first.

Especially when we have the leader of the military telling him loud and clear they won't get involved and the courts, which Trump usually ignores, will decide. Him saying no comment would have left it up in the air and potentially have made Trump think twice about it.

I think the military responded exactly the way I'd want them to: the military serves under the civilian government and not the other way around.

I know why he did it - he could not have possibly said "we'll see" or anything close to that. I would have preferred "I won't comment on hypotheticals" because I know Trump is reading. I want Trump to be too scared to try to stay.

Nothing that guy said would have influenced Trump. We need to vote him out. And if he won't go, then we take action to force him out.

Voting him out is off topic with this discussion - that's a prerequisite for Trump refusing to leave. If he wins the election the other part of the discussion is irrelevant.

On the refusal to leave topic, he likely has a personal army now. I hope enough people will protest to overcome him refusing to leave, but I have my doubts. I look at Belarus and I think they will not get anywhere unless they turn the military against the president. The advantage we have is Trump has not been in charge for 30 years. Disadvantage is the GOP has done a wonderful job of painting all Democrats as socialists who want to destroy the country.

Scenarios listed from best to worst:

1. Trump loses and leaves
2. Trump loses and won't leave but he's forced out legally
3. Trump loses and won't leave but he's forced out militarily
3. (tie) Trump wins and leaves in 2024
5. Trump wins and won't leave in 2024 but he's forced out legally
6. Trump wins and won't leave in 2024 but he's forced out militarily
7. Trump wins and won't leave in 2024
8. Trump loses and won't leave

I put the tie in because if he's forced out militarily we might have a civil war which will just be people killing random people in the streets.
