Possible 2018 Nebraska Football Payroll

BIG ERN

Recommended Posts

Bo Pelini $1.5M through Feb 28, 2019

Mike Riley $3M through 2020 season

Bob Diaco $875,000 through 2018 season

Danny Langsdorf $500,000 through 2018 season

Assistant Coaches paid through Jan 31, 2019

Mike Cavanaugh $450,000

Trent Bray $425,000

Keith Williams $400,000

Donte Williams $400,000

Reggie Davis $350,000

John Parrella $272,500

If Riley is fired we will be paying for 3 Head Coaches in 2018. More than likely the new HC is going to want to bring in his previous staff, possibly keeping 2 assistants who are currently at Nebraska. Our current assistants have gotten raises so more than likely the new ones won't make quite as much right away.

New 2018 Coaching Staff Guesstimates

HC: $3.75M (would be around the 25th highest paid HC)

OC: $500,000

DC: $500,000

5 new assistants (if they keep 2) on an average salary of $350,000

2018 Grand Estimate Total =  over $15M

$15M isn't that much anymore. Nick Saban alone gets paid $11M. There are coaches with buyouts of $15M and $12M. Are you afraid of doing what needs to be done (aka doing business) or live in loserville because you are afraid of what the line item says on the accounting sheets?

I've stated several times that we are seriously under paying and are seeing the results in doing so. Riley is around the 43rd highest paid coach. We need a new HC, but it just shows after constantly having turnover it ends up being very expensive. We aren't Alabama and shouldn't compare to them. We have proven that we either don't have anywhere near their money, or we are unwilling to spend that much.

Estimated windfall of TV money next calendar year: $55 million-$18 million(current TV dollars)=$37 million in NEW funds from TV money, so the way I see it we have a net gain of $22 million to start over and move in the right direction.

Also, $15 million is nothing to our Athletic Department.

edit: Plus as previously stated, that money is coming from the "other" accounts that hold 10s of millions of dollars.

Then why are we only spending minimal amounts of money? We always talk like Nebraska has unlimited amounts of dollars, but I'm waiting to see these dollars spent. And please don't talk about facilities. I've traveled to other universities and many have caught up or passed us.
