CheeseHusker
I say go for it with Oklahoma. Even if there's no conference implications. USC and Stanford still play Notre Dame every year. Edited February 2, 2018 by CheeseHusker Quote Link to comment

Black Friday is a Nebraska tradition that originally the Squackeyes wanted nothing to do with, now they act like it is their thing. 5 Quote Link to comment

The paved road situation, specifically potholes and lack thereof is vastly better in Iowa, which pains me to admit. Thanks casino dollars! Edited February 2, 2018 by Xmas32 Quote Link to comment

Refresh my memory, please. I don't think that it was SE that wanted it moved. The idea to move it probably came from the B1G or other schools, or the BTN, or ESPN, who knows? The problem with SE was more that he failed to advocate for keeping it, displaying his ignorance of what is important to Husker fans and players. The quick about-face after the backlash is evidence of this ignorance, IMO. He just never had the pulse of the average fan, or even the average booster. That's a major problem in my book. Out-of-touch is NOT what you want to be as an AD. 3 Quote Link to comment

Out-of-touch is NOT what you want to be as an AD. Riley was a big advocate of moving NU off of the Black Friday game. He said it was too hard to game plan and get the team ready on a short week. Eichorst was trying to do his coach a favor in agreeing with the Big Ten to move NU off Black Friday. 2 Quote Link to comment
B.B. Hemingway
It might be too soon to call the Moos hire a "home run", but it's kind of comical to look back on some of the national media's reaction after it was announced. A whole lot of "Who?", and "Really" reactions.... Just an overall underwhelming response to the hire. So far, he's hit every note, and this Black Friday issue is the latest example. I kind of wondered about that, too -- i thought i had heard him saying he didnt like Friday games, but at the time I thought he was referring to the Illinois game. As for game planning ... um, yeah, 7 days vs. 6 days ... did it really matter? 2 Quote Link to comment

I think you have it backwards. The quote you are referencing from Riley was made AFTER the announcement to move the game. I got the impression that Riley was toeing the company line, and coming up with a reason to support the move, rather than the other way around. After the backlash, SE changed his tune, and so did Riley, when asked about it in a presser. He said something to the effect of "It doesn't really matter one way or the other (shorter prep time)". It was basically the same process as when the B1G wanted to have some season games on Fridays. Initially, both SE and Riley said "OK, Big Ten, no problem". Then after there was some backlash from fans Riley made a statement about "Friday being for High School Football traditionally". And not wanting to do it. Since we only have official statements, we won't ever know who initiated the move. I could be wrong. IMO ADSE wouldn't stand up for Nebraska, and HCMR wouldn't stand up for himself. Both were weak in their own way. Edited February 2, 2018 by Kiyoat Husker 2 Quote Link to comment
