R.N.C. Official Who Agreed to Pay Playboy Model $1.6 Million Resigns

A major donor with close ties to the White House resigned on Friday as deputy finance chairman of the Republican National Committee after the revelation that he had agreed to pay $1.6 million to a former Playboy model who became pregnant during an affair.

The deal was arranged in the final months of 2017 by President Trump’s personal lawyer and fixer, Michael D. Cohen.

One of the women, a former Playboy model named Karen McDougal, sold the rights to her story for $150,000 to American Media Inc., the publisher of The National Enquirer. The other woman, Stephanie Clifford, a pornographic film actress known as Stormy Daniels, received a payment of $130,000 that Mr. Cohen said came out of his own pocket.

Both of the women were represented by Keith M. Davidson. Mr. Davidson also represented the woman in the agreement Mr. Cohen struck on behalf of Mr. Broidy, further establishing a pattern of collaboration between the lawyers in striking for-pay accommodations to silence women’s allegations about powerful men.

Elliott Broidy, a relative nobody outside of Republican insider circles, has to pay $1.6 million for his indiscretions, negotiated by Trump's guy Cohen and Keith Davidson, the sleazy lawyer who was actually representing other interests than that of his clients.

But in deals also involving Cohen and Davidson, Stormy Daniels only got $130,000, and Karen McDougal only got $150,000.

Why is Broidy worth ten times more than Trump in these deals?

Or is it not Broidy that's at play in the Playmate pregnancy case after all?

Did Stormy Daniels’ Lawyer Just Hint That a $1.6 Million Abortion Payout May Have Been for Trump and Not That GOP Donor?

Attorney Michael Avenatti, the lawyer for porn actress Stormy Daniels, is having quite a day. That’s because President Donald Trump already handed him a gift with his phone call Thursday to Fox & Friends when he noted that his personal lawyer Michael Cohen was working on his behalf when he paid Daniels $130,000.

Now it’s starting to sound as if Broidy may have been the fall guy and agreed to take one for the team. The good people over at Raw Story were quick to notice that during an appearance Thursday on MSNBC’s Morning Joe, Avenatti hinted that the payout may not have been on Broidy’s behalf.

“So, Mika, you are familiar with the fact that a week ago, Judge (Kimba) Wood ordered Michael Cohen’s attorneys to disclose all of his clients for the last three years,” Avenatti said, “and there were three clients listed — three clients listed. Do you recall which three?”

Brzezinski listed Trump, Fox News host Sean Hannity and Republican donor Elliott Broidy — but Avenatti said she was making the same mistake everyone else had.

“No, no, no,” he said. “Mr. Trump, the Trump organization and Sean Hannity. Mr. Broidy was not disclosed in open court as one of Michael Cohen’s clients.”

Co-host Joe Scarborough asked the attorney what that meant.

“I think at some point we are going to find out, if in fact, the client in connection with the ($1.6 million) settlement was, in fact, Mr. Broidy. I’m going to leave it at that.”

Side note not trying to take anything away from the story or derail the thread... but why do we keep calling her by her porn name and not her real name?

I think that is the name she goes by, isn't it?

My guess is she doesn't feel she should be ashamed of her porn name.

By the way...your porn name is supposed to be the name of your first pet and the first street you lived on.

That makes me:  Kody Williams.  Looking back on it I wish my first pet had been named 18 inch and my first street was Dong Ave.

Think of all those lucky kids with pet snakes in ChinaTown!!!   :D

Hoo boy. If Trump actually has party lifers like this guy taking falls for him, it adds a whole new layer of pathetic for everyone involved. How much of a sycophant do you have to be to fall on that sword?

Although it seems somewhat farfetched to me that Donald Trump would possibly ask someone to do that kind of thing for him. I just don't know, man...

So basically, Hannity sets the table for Team Trump to reinvent their story.  Hannity loves Rudy & Trump  (ok not that kind of love :o- don't make it more scandalous than what it is) and is doing their bidding to help them get the story out on a safe venue.

Trump's tweets outlining the arrangement came after Rudy Giuliani, one of his attorneys, said Wednesday that Trump reimbursed Cohen for $130,000 in hush money to Daniels days before the 2016 presidential election. During an appearance on Fox News Channel's "Hannity," Giuliani said the money to repay Michael Cohen had been "funneled ... through the law firm and the president repaid it."

Asked if Trump knew about the arrangement, Giuliani said: "He didn't know about the specifics of it, as far as I know. But he did know about the general arrangement, that Michael would take care of things like this, like I take care of things like this for my clients. I don't burden them with every single thing that comes along. These are busy people."

Speaking on "Fox and Friends" Thursday, Giuliani said Trump didn't know all the details until "maybe 10 days ago." While stressing that Trump denies the relationship, he said Cohen may have seen $130,000 as "cheap."

"They said it wasn't true," Giuliani said. "However, imagine if that came out on October 15, 2016, in the middle of the last debate with Hillary Clinton. Cohen didn't even ask. Cohen made it go away. He did his job."

Giuliani also described the payment to Daniels as "a very regular thing for lawyers to do."

I'm sure Mr Mueller is going to look at FEC rules to see if the $130k that Trump didn't know about but did know about was a reportable campaign donation.

The husband of White House counselor Kellyanne Conway shared a link to Federal Election Commission (FEC) rules after it was revealed that President Trump reimbursed his personal attorney for paying adult film-star Stormy Daniels hush-money.

George Conway tweeted the link, which points to rules on personal loans.

"If any person, including a relative or friend of the candidate, gives or loans the candidate money “for the purpose of influencing any election for federal office,” the funds are not considered personal funds of the candidate even if they are given to the candidate directly," the FEC rules read.

"Instead, the gift or loan is considered a contribution from the donor to the campaign, subject to the per-election limit and reportable by the campaign. This is true even if the candidate uses the funds for personal living expenses while campaigning."

George Conway, unlike his wife, who formerly ran Trump's campaign and who remains a top media booster of the president, is a frequent critic of Trump on Twitter.
