cheekygeek
Quote Let's analyze. This is a hyper-ironic sentence in a post on the subject of "Fear of hype / jinx". Here's your analysis: Every year a number of teams and individuals get's hyped. Every year a number of individual football players suffer various degrees of injury, some of which impact their team's performance more than others (or in combination with others' injuries). Every year a number of individuals that were hyped are numbered among those injured. If you think otherwise, you are experiencing Confirmation Bias. Quote Link to comment

TonyStalloni
In regards to the OP's question: When a starter and a star player go down with injury you hope there is a backup in place that can still allow the team to function well. Old school Nebraska could do that effectively because everyone got practice reps. Look at the 95 season. We were down to the 4th string RB with barely a change in production. I will agree losing a starting QB is different because he has developed the timing with receivers. Hopefully if AM goes down Noah Vedral is ready to step in. Also Matt Masker will have a year in the system and Luke McCaffery is a smart kid. Quote Link to comment
brophog
We have solved this problem. We now recruit injured players so they get all of that out of their system while they are still in high school. 3 Quote Link to comment
JJ Husker
I don’t know about this hype / jinx connection. The jinx probably has much more to do with the overall state and depth of our team during those years. Used to be, when we had injuries, it was just next man up and quite often the next man up made us forget about the original guy. The days of that kind of depth are probably over but I think we’re on our way towards at least being able to withstand a few critical player losses. Not there yet but maybe in the next few years.
