What is the future of the Republican Party?

I actually agree with trump about McConnell. But I disagree that he should have anything to do with the future of the Republican party.

McConnell has to be kicking himself for trying to walk the tightrope.  Ultimately he fell.  He had the chance to jettison Trump from ever holding federal office again but he caved.  Now he's paying the piper.

What a web we spin, when we make our bed with Trump.  The GOP can't live with him or without him.

Infighting over the role Trump plays in the party will occur into the future.

It is apparent to me that the GOP is no longer the party of Reagan - who I supported (Trump couldn't carry Reagan's shoes in things that mattered) and has now and actually has been for some time the party of Trump.  The difference :  Going from the optimistic "Morning in America" to the  chaotic, strife filled "Mourning in America" as properly noted by one of the Lincoln Project's earlier videos.  I cannot and will not support the party of trump.

Sen. Lindsey Graham appeared on Hannity Tuesday night, where the South Carolina Republican spoke about the growing rift between Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell and former President Donald Trump.

Just minutes after voting not to convict Trump in the impeachment trial on charges of inciting the deadly insurrection at the Capitol on Jan. 6, McConnell took to the Senate floor where the Kentucky politician said there was “no question” Trump was responsible. In response, Trump released a lengthy, scathing statement about McConnell on Tuesday. Graham believes the infighting will only hurt the Republican Party and needs to come to an end.

“President Trump's statement today in response to what McConnell said Saturday is very predictable. I remind everybody, Ronald Reagan's 11th commandment was don't speak ill of fellow Republicans,” Graham said. He later added, “Mitch McConnell working with Donald Trump did a hell of a job. They are now at each other's throat. I’m more worried about 2022 than I’ve ever been. I don’t want to eat our own.”

Graham has been one of Trump’s most ardent defenders throughout his presidency and beyond, and after listing what he perceives to be Trump’s accomplishments in office, he reminded Trump how important McConnell was to his presidency, from pushing through tax cuts to rushing Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett’s confirmation through the Senate.

“Mitch McConnell was indispensable to Donald Trump’s success,” Graham said. “Mitch McConnell got the tax cut through, a massive tax cut, with a two vote Republican majority. Mitch McConnell is much to credit for Amy Coney Barrett as any single person.”

Graham went on to address Trump and McConnell separately.

In addressing Trump, Graham referenced a recent poll that showed that 59 percent of Republican respondents want Trump to play a prominent role in the party, and 54 percent would back him in a presidential primary.

“In that poll, you own the Republican Party, my friend,” Graham said. “But 55 percent of the people wanted you impeached and removed. You are the hope of the future of conservatism, President Trump, but we’ve got to make some changes to get back the White House in 2024 and have a Republican majority in the Senate and the House in 2022.”

As for McConnell, Graham said, “I know Trump can be a handful, but he is the most dominant figure in the Republican party. We don't have a snowball's chance in hell of taking back the majority without Donald Trump. If you don't get that, you're just not looking.”

Her point is to “trigger the libs”, I’m sure.

That and pander to the lowest common denominator of her supporter base, many of whom's first thoughts when seeing this will be 'ha bet that's triggering the liberals,' thereby accomplishing her goal.

I don’t understand the point of her doing that but it’s her house I guess.

Really???? It sure seems pretty clear.

As others have said.

a). Trigger libs

b). Pander to her base that are obviously single issue voters that think libs are going to come take all their guns away.

She could actually damage the 2A cause with crap like this. Dumb PR photos with unsecured weapons "just lying around" does not promote responsible gun ownership. Anti 2A folks will use dumb stuff like this to enact legislation that 2A proponents and responsible gun owners will not be happy with.

Yep.

The crazy Qanon lady from Georgia is also bad for 2A business.  Making pro gun arguments while claiming school shootings didn’t really happen isn’t a good way to sound reasonable.

I’m waiting for some punchline where the Scooby Doo crew pulls off the masks of Trump and all these new Reps to expose Antifa.  It was all a ruse to destroy the GOP, and they would have gotten away with it if it wasn’t for those...Nevermind, they will get away with it
