"In another significant change, the schools and the reps narrowly approved legislation that will prevent schools and coaches from choosing not to renew an athlete's scholarship for athletic reasons. Under the system that has been in place, most athletic scholarships are subject to annual renewal." Does this slow down the SEC?

"Our soft-tissue injuries were way down," Pelini said. "We were pretty much able to stay right on track with what we aimed to do going in. For the first time through, that isn't real easy to do. But we were disciplined in staying on our timeframes."

“Most people think about it as just being a win for us, but I don’t see it that way,” said quarterback Tommy Armstrong, who threw two interceptions and completed just 8 of 21 passes. “Purdue’s Purdue. But if we keep playing like this, we’re going to lose one of our games. It’s unacceptable. I’m embarrassed. ... The way we played, we should have lost.”

@footballscoop Per source, nearly all of the support staff at Nebraska have been released. Long list of really good people including Jeff Jamrog (assistant AD for football), Austin Everson (asst director of operations), Mike Nobler (video coordinator), Brian Crist (director of player personnel) and many, many more are now available.

@huskerextrabc So, apparently out: Gregory, Cooper, Pelini, Sterup, Moore. #Huskers

@MikelSevere Be honest are you terrified about the future of #huskers football? I have this weird feeling that people won't give Riley much rope.

@Sean_Callahan All 10 Big Ten Bowl teams are currently listed as Vegas underdogs. However, eight of the 10 lines are between 3 and 6.5 points

@Sean_Callahan The Nebraska folks I've talked to prefer Tampa over San Diego fwiw. New bowl site, and a better date on Jan. 1 vs. Dec. 27.

@swmckewonOWH Banker gave Michigan State pointers for the Oregon game. "Obviously we didn't help them worth a damn because they got their ass kicked."

33.3: Armstrong’s completion percentage inside an opponent’s 40-yard line. That’s low. By contrast, here are Nebraska’s completion rates from 2008 to 2013: 59.3 (2013); 59.2 (2012); 56.3 (2011); 59.0 (2010); 50.0 (2009) and 64.2 (2008).

Just trying to make the point that given the rainy conditions and the pressure he was under, he generally didn't do too bad. Take away the passes in the flat that he missed and I would've been fine with how he played given the time he had to get rid of the ball. We need someone to work more with our QBs. Also, if you don't like the completion % get used to it because these are the types of QBs we're recruiting.

Abdullah calls Gurley "definitely a Heisman contender" and puts Gordon in the same category. But of his own ambition, he simply states, "My goal isn't really to win the Heisman. It's just to be better than I was the day before."
