  1. Interesting to note that we have beat Penn St. every time we’ve played them since we joined the B1G. We’re 3-0. I wish this could be that weird game we’ll win because Riley always has one of those a year (likecwhen we beat Michigan St. when they were undefeated)

All good streaks must come to an end. Sorry for my "downer" moment.

Mike Riley also hasn't had the opportunity to coach against them either...

  2. Well this is a surprise. I thought he wasn’t a candidate anymore. That Chip Kelly was their choice. http://www.wowt.com/content/sports/Scott-Frost-is-Candidate-for-Florida-Head-Coach-457612353.html

Hey Knap. What do you think about this?  You have to admit it is intriguing and oh so creative!  http://www.orlandosentinel.com/sports/david-whitley/os-sp-ucf-college-football-playoffs-david-whitley-1115-story.html

I think that no matter what UCF does, they'll get left out of the playoff. The Committee will find a reason not to include them, if for no other reason than that it'll kill TV viewership.

I'm sure you're right but their story just pulls at your heart strings. Kinda like the small town team going up against the Goliath team (e.g. Hoosiers). Gotta love their spunk but we want their coach!

  3. Man, Rex B. Is a beast! Scored the opening touchdown of the patriots-Broncos game then blocked a punt!  I miss that guy but Itso happy he played when he did!

Rex had a monster game! It's so great to see him establishing himself in New England. Had the most snaps of any Patriots RB by far last night.

I would love to see the Patriots win  the Super Bowl so Rex could be part of that!  He’s such a hard worker and such a team player!

  4. Ok, I just saw the score! SAD!  Wow. I could just cry!  Scott please come home!

  5. IT'S GAME DAY!!!! GO BIG RED!!!!

(Can you tell I was a cheerleader in my youth! Lol). I want our boys to win today just for them! Just for the fact that they've worked so hard and have not quit even when they were pummeled!  GBR!

  7. Hi Mavric I got this message under the Fundraising link:

Well, it worked for me once but now it's broken.

Perhaps it does that after the goal is reached.  But that's an odd way to show it.

    3. GSG

      GSG

NOW IT SAYS $480 OUT OF $500. I WAS GOING TO THROW SOME $$ IN TODAY. DID WE MEET THE GOAL ALREADY OR NOT?!?!!?

    4. Mavric

      Mavric

Technically I don't think the goal has been met.  But I also think the matching donor hasn't caught up with their part either.

So we're probably good as soon as they get a chance to get on here.  But we could always go over.  :)

  8. Just read that Rick Neuheisel (sp?) is interested in the Oregon St. job-It just hit me as funny/interesting. http://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/21255973/rick-neuheisel-interested-oregon-state-beavers-open-coaching-job

That one I did see in person from that side of the North endzone about 60 rows up. The first of many games we should have won... At least the BYU kid and his dad by us went home happy.

At home watching wishing I was at the stadium.  We were originally supposed to go to that game but swapped those tickets for the Michigan State game with another family we split tickets with.  Poor choice on my part.

    2. deedsker

      deedsker

South stadium. I saw the catch, but not where he landed. By the time I saw where he was on the big board, I thought he caught it at the one and didn't score! Everyone was screaming before I saw the ref finally signal touchdown.

  11. If you want a read that will lift your spirits go to the ‘Why am I a Husker fan?’ thread. Some of those stories just warm your heart!

  12. Is Florida the new Texas?  Every time the coach doesn't win the way they want them to they fire them.  Sounds like Texas to me!

  13. ASTROS!!!!  OH YEAH BABY!  We got us a game!

One part of the "Husker fans are the greatest" that I am sour on is how we treat our own.  We pride ourselves on welcoming opposing fans to Memorial Stadium and clapping for the visiting team win or lose.  However we can be the most lame, sour, bitter and nasty bunch around to our coaches and players.  The way I look at it is this:  Our coaches are my coaches till they aren't and I will support them.  Same way with players.  The day I am perfect I can expect the players to be faultless and perfect.  Till then and long after their playing days are over they will be a part of the Husker family.

  15. So sad. My NWMSU Bearcats lost today for the first time in two years. Amazing run but sad:(

  17. I think if I have to read one more ‘Eeyore’ post from a certain poster on this board I’m going to explode!  Good grief!  For those if you unfamiliar with Eeyore he is a character in the Winnie-the-Pooh books by A. A. Milne. He is generally characterized as a pessimistic, gloomy, depressed, anhedonic, old grey stuffed donkey. Enough of the gloom and doom!  I don’t care is we are a 10 point underdog, we need to support our team! We beat Rutgers-Purdue didn’t!  GO BIG RED!!!!

You're going to have to be specific on which Eeyore you're referring to.

    4. ladyhawke

      ladyhawke

For me there's only one poster who fits that description.  It seems like all of his posts are like that. Full of doom and gloom. He's new on the block. I don't like to throw people under the bus. He knows who he is as I put a picture of dear Eeyore in reply to his post. I'm never against folks sharing how they feel about the team but the angst this kiddo shares is a little much. I hadn't seen that much drama since my old theater days in college. This is Husker football-Not Hamlet.;)

  18. Anybody else watching the OU-K State game? Man, that's good old fashion former Big 8 football! Big 8 teams always played other Big 8 teams tough.

    1. TonyStalloni

      TonyStalloni

I'm always amazed how well Bill Snyder's players are prepared and how they sell out every time they put the pads on.  They are rarely the fastest, biggest, highly decorated 4 and 5 star kids but they leave it all on the field.

    2. ladyhawke

      ladyhawke

That was a fun game to watch. Snyder had them ready to play and they gave Okie a run for their money. Some of his formations are brilliant. I was wondering why we couldn't try some of those run plays. Very well done even though KState lost.

IDK what’s happened to Purdue. I watched them early in the season and thought they looked much improved. Now I’m not so sure. But I’m still not counting any game as a win. We’ve looked pathetic on both sides of the ball at different times this year. I have no feeling or idea what we’ll get from week to week anymore. If beating Purdue and Northwestern is all we have to look forward to, that’s a pretty sad state of affairs.

    3. spurs1990

      spurs1990

Minnesota looks terrible too. Not to mention Iowa hasn't looked overly impressive since PSU and MSU. We still have 3-4 potential wins on the schedule. Like you said, no games that we can just assume are wins.

I know but I'm trying to think positively. I feel so badly for our boys.

  20. Husker Ladies Vollyball wins again vs Northwestern!  3-0!

  21. Has anyone actually asked Scott Frost if he would be willing to come to Nebraska if the job became available.?  You would think every ESPN reporter would have already asked him that question.

    2. Enhance

      Enhance

IMO, sometimes a reporter needs to ask a question even if they know they won't get a response. This isn't one of those situations. A coach shouldn't comment on their interest (or lack there of) in another coaching position while they're currently coaching at a school. It's just unfair and wrong, perhaps even unethical, to ask or answer that question. But, it is the elephant in the room. A lot of people seem convinced Frost would be elated to get this job and I'm not so sure.

    3. krc1995

      krc1995

I'm not sure if he wants either but any comment on a position that's not even open would be disrespectful to the current coach and both fan bases.

    4. ladyhawke

      ladyhawke

Teachercd you crack me up. I was thinking more of the press as I realize administrators can’t ask. I’m not sure Scott will come or if he is a good fit for NU. (I’m ducking in case I start getting stoned by irate fans!) Yes he’s winning and he’s ranked but who has UCF really played? The Navy game will be interesting. I’m a huge SF fan but unless NU can not only offer Scott big money but also for all of his assistant coaches (he wants to keep the band together according to an Orlando reporter) he probably won’t come.

  22. Is it too early to start talking about Purdue? What are our chances against them?

    1. VectorVictor

C'mon, we need to get past BYE first unscathed. And frankly, that's a tall order for this team right now.

  24. Hypothetical Question: If we fired Coach Riley tomorrow who would our interim coach be?

    2. ladyhawke

      ladyhawke

True.  This is all such a mess. I watched that game last night and our boys came out strong then the OC called a pass play when we were running the ball so well. THAT is what frustrates me the most! You would think tha Riley himself would start calling the offense when we started to go downhill. We've got some nice talent but is it being developed?
