schuhbdoo
For starters, I am not on the Lee band wagon. I am in the group that just wants the best player to start, regardless of what name or number he is wearing. That said, I think your statement overstates the truth of the situation. 1) Lee passed many of the tests we asked him to pass last year. He led an impressive fourth quarter comeback against Missouri, he came in and scored a touchdown for us against Oklahoma when Green wasn't doing anything, he helped us to a north title, he helped dominate a talented Arizona team, and he kept his mouth shut and nose to the grind when much of the fan base had cast him out as a terrible quarterback. Did he pass all of the tests? No. But to say that he failed all of them and choked in the big games is ridiculous. 2) Have we forgotten Lee had an injury AND surgery in his throwing arm? If any of you have played football, then you know what it's like to play injured and the toll it takes on the body come the end of the season. The man got injured in week two for crying out loud. At the time we didn't know, but now we do. I'm not saying this healthy arm is going to drastically change anything, but I know for sure that it couldn't hurt to have a healthy arm now. I'll give you the Missouri game, but scoring the 1 yard TD against Oklahoma proved nothing to me. I know he sucked it up for the sake of the team, I'm just saying that there were not many moments last year where I was encouraged by Lee's performance. I stated this in an earlier post about Zac Lee. He threw zero TD's in the four losses last year. If one TD is throw in each of those four games, NU prolly wins 3 of the 4 they lost. Considering we lost by less than 7 points in 3 of the 4, I say NU wins 3 of the 4. 13-1 and BCS game winner on Jan. 1st. NU has to have a QB that can help get redzone TD's, either on the ground or through the air. Settling for FG's did this team in on 3 of their 4 losses. Boom!!! Quote Link to comment

Enhance
I believe Martinez will really surprise people this year. He has the best arm, the quickest release, the best throwing motion and is the most athletic of the others. Whole-heartedly disagree. Lee has the best mechanics of any of our quarterbacks that we have seen. Unless Martinez drastically changed his throwing motion since spring ball, Lee is still the better throw of the three. Mechanics are great, but i want a guy who knows how to play. Lee stared his WR's down last year like crazy. you can pull that against crap teams cause there is a reason they are a CB on a terrible team. but games against Texas, that staring your WR wont work. Lee has a terrible QB IQ. If you think Lee stared down his receivers far too much, then I daresay you will not be impressed with Martinez this year against the better defenses. If we had to choose a pure passer for our first game, I would pick Lee in a heartbeat. Green was actually the worse passer we had last season in term's of staring receivers down. Personally, I don't think Lee has terrible QB IQ. I think Lee just had his confidence shot last year which put him into bad tendencies. 1 Quote Link to comment
ADS
I dont really care who starts, as long as whoever it is out there needs to pick up 3rd downs for us, make good decisions, and keep the offense rolling smoothly. With a solid running game, a great defense, and an amazing kicker I honstly dont think we need a game breaking quarterback. 2 Quote Link to comment
junior4949
While you guys bicker about who the starter will be or should be, I'm more concerned about the situation where we have a QB by committee where we rotate two or more QB's in and out of games. Quote Link to comment

He wont be sitting in the pocket, he will be moving and throwing outside the pocket. It is harder to read a guys eyes when he is scrambling towards open field. That forces DB's and LB's to move with him, making it a bit more difficult to sit and read routes. I agree that Lee lost all confidence, but what is to say he will have any this year? One of the worst things you can do is stay status quo when something isnt working. I think Lee might be right, but why not give Martinez a shot and lets see what he does. Green showed us he isnt a better option than Lee.. and i think Martinez will show us the same thing, that Lee is most likely the right fit, but lets see. Quote Link to comment
Apathy
Why are we still talking about the QB situation? We won't know till kickoff on who's the starter. I've given up on the QB talk since last week and I think others should too. On a side note College Football is on TONIGHT....HELLZ YA Quote Link to comment

The only problem with rolling out of the pocket is that it cuts down on the area of the field you can throw to, because you NEVER throw across your body, especially back across the field. Can't throw across the body.. What about Brett Favre's favorite play .. Regardless, Green likely looked Green last year because he didn't get sizeable playing time until mid season when teams are playing with a much higher tempo. A lot of the reciever stare down might have been due to Green's lack of grasp of the playbook.. If I had to memorize 370 plays, I would likely stare down my recievers because I likely wouldn't remember everyone's routes.in my opinion no performaces of last year matter- Lee included. New season, new players, new expectations and results. Like the coaches have said, everyday is a test for the players, what they did in January means nothing. Quote Link to comment
95huskers
Tmart will start the first quarter he is 1a on the depth chart. Green is 1b on the depth chart and will start the second quarter. With lee being 3rd on the depth chart. Whomever performs better in the first half with take the majority of snaps in the 2nd half. I dont think it has anything to do with Lee's ability more so the type of offense they want to run is spread option and tmart/green are the best options for this type of offense.
