lo country
There was rumblings that Bo and Turner don't quite see eye to eye. You're thinking of Scott Frost. Huh? Quote Link to comment
TJ Alum Husker
I hardly see how he's qualified. He has no golf pro experience and I don't think he'e ever even been to Cardinal Mooney high school let alone attended class there. Now THAT's Funny right there! Quote Link to comment
The Dude
There was rumblings that Bo and Turner don't quite see eye to eye. You're thinking of Scott Frost. Huh? Whenever Frost's name was brought up to replace Shawn Watson the standard, generic response was "I heard a rumor that Bo and Scott don't quite see eye to eye". Quote Link to comment
ZRod
Not to hijack the thread or anything, but I'm more curious to see if what I heard about Phil Fulmer going to Kansas is true, rather than whatever happens to Gill. First Mangino, now Fulmer...is there some surplus of wicked cheap buffets in Lawrence or something? Wouldn't know about the buffets, but it seems like they have A LOT of really good restaurants and sports bars with quality food. Quote Link to comment
BIGREDIOWAN
Hello Husker Nation!! Glad to be back where the cornfields are plentiful. Congrats on a solid season in the big 10. I'd say your team is in great position to compete for the Big 10 Crown next season. But enough about that.....has anyone heard any rumors about former KU Head Coach Turner Gill returning home to coach your QB's?? I ask, because there has been some grumblings that something might already be in the works. I wish Coach Gill nothing but the best of luck wherever he ends up. He is a great mentor and teacher of life. However, I feel he was in over his head as a head coach in the big 12. Just curious if you all have heard anything. -JGS30 Or your basketball school has too high of expectations for its football team and didn't give him a chance to get his players in there. Mangino overachieved there and they will never be that good again. Quote Link to comment

I thought Frost was just a few years away from being a viable candidate for a bigger move. Quote Link to comment

C N Red
Where is Mangino?? I don't remember if he got hired on somewhere or not. He may be fat, but no doubt he is a pretty damn good OC and I would think someone would hire him. Quote Link to comment
VectorVictor
Always thought Mangino would had been a good OC to bring on at Nebraska, if he was willing to take the position. And IIRC, hasn't Mangino worked with the Pelinis and Stoops in the past? Quote Link to comment

Stickney
Why would Bo bring in an NU legend so that at after every loss half the fan base would call for the proverbial "back-up QB" or in this case "back-up Head Coach"? Quote Link to comment

If Gill is a guy that can improve Martinez, Bo will have no problem with that. If Zook can bring in a load of recruits to Lincoln, Bo will have no problem with that. He'll sit back, collect his trophies (beacuse we all know it's more about trophies that he lets on) and cash his paychecks. i don't get why every discussion of these 3 coaches - all of whom could bring a load of tallent to the coaching staff - is centered on Bo and his possible conflict with said coaches. If that's the case, we're going to be in trouble because promoting interns to keep Bo's ego/confidence in check on a yearly cycle isn't going put us into the elite. Quote Link to comment

I have NO issue with a Stoops (setting aside the fact he is one of the few BCS coaches that can make Bo look calm), a Zook, heck even Mangino last year -- an experienced staff member is fine. The issue is Gill. NU fans are obsessed with Gill as a legend. He may be a heck of a coach, but it makes no sense for Bo to bring him in and the "legend baggage" that comes with it to undermine Bo at every turn. (Gill wouldn't do it, but his mere presence would do so). Quote Link to comment
