In college, I managed to score the digits and get a date with a smokin' hot bartender, which was noteworthy because she was always getting hit on by college dudes every night and was used to ignoring such flirtations, and my friends said there was no way she would even give me the time of day.

When I took her out, it came out during the conversation that she was a vegetarian, and when I asked why, she said that she couldn't eat anything with a face.

I was at a loss for words. I looked down at the burger I had ordered, and seeing no face on it, enjoyed eating it and never called her again.

The point is: beauty is only skin deep, but meat is always delicious.

So your thesis of this post is that you gave up possibly getting laid by a "smoking hot" bartender, just so you could enjoy your burger at that particular moment?....Might not be the best decision of your life....But good work nonetheless..

Double bag it if you're taking the bartender home. (There are exceptions . . . but . . .)

How does not eating meat solve the problem of inhumane treatment of animals? Do you really think for every X hamburgers you don't eat you're actually saving a cow's life?

We know we aren't contributing to it. If x amount of people stop eating meat it very well could be one less cow slaughtered. Simple supply and demand. At the very least I know it was not because of my "want" for meat that that animal was killed.

The area farmers in our beloved state would kindly like to point out the supply/demand/money to stay in business are all tied together. I like my beef kissed by a flame and put on my plate still mooing! Kick it in the head , put a bic to it and serve it to me with a nice crown on the rocks! Murder when talking about beef specifically has to do with overcooking my steak! Unjustifiable homicide. Vegetables are put on the plate merely to give me something to throw in case a food fight breaks out!

PS- my doctor is not impressed with my meat eating habits and said I won't live long if I don't cut down some! I told him that nobody gets out of this world alive.

Nah, I didn't have a shot at getting laid on that date. Had that possibility been there, I would have played it a little differently. She was out of my league in terms of hotness, but not worth pursuing a relationship for just for the chance of getting laid down the road. I mean, she was a vegetarian.

Like I said in an earlier post. I have absolutely no problem if someone if vegetarian or vegan. That is totally your choice no matter if it is because of health reasons or moral reasons.

My issue is when it is based on false information.

:yeah

Likewise, I have no problem with those who choose to not eat meat. In fact, I believe there are health benefits to lowering a persons red meat consumption. But, I wouldn't go so far as to totally eliminate it because I like it and I don't think it has been shown that it is a problem eaten in moderation. Much of my livelyhood depends on food production, primarily red meats and dairy. I really take offense when people try to claim these animals are being treated inhumanely. They are not. However, if the real point is that you have a moral problem with raising animals for food, then please quit calling it inhumane and refer to it as being against your principles or whatever. It may be my interpretation of inhumane but I can unequivocally tell you these animals are not mistreated. But yes they are brought into this world for the sole purpose of slaughtering and consuming them.

this is what i do not get. what other purpose would a cow serve other than to feed other creatures? if a cow lived one day, it just as well lived a million. that is their purpose. i get being opposed to the mistreatment (cafo's seem particularly horrific) of animals or the environmental toll of livestock because it is possibly becoming non-sustainable, but most animals are intended to be ate and really serve no other purpose.

What's the point of a cow if we don't eat it and make baseball gloves out of it?

Cows produce methane, a known greenhouse gas, which contributes to global warming. By eating this enemy of the environment, I'm helping to save the planet.

It's something I do for my fellow humans.

I dont know anyone on this board....I realize everyone has an opinion about everything these days....But if Hedley chooses not to eat meat, why the butchering of his belief?.....Vegetarians are bashed because they talk about their diet, but yet they get bashed even when they dont because we live in the midwest where its natural to not give two sh#ts about animal life....My family doesnt use eat any meat, we also dont use products that are used in animal testing....Its the way we choose to live.....By screaming in our faces "YOU DONT KNOW WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT", isnt going to change the fact that some people just do not want to see animals harmed in any way......I understand I am in the minority here, but if i had my way everything from meat consumption to hunting would be eliminated.....I just dont see the point in it.....But if you do, you do....No judgement on my part.....Just ask for the same courtesy back in return

You don't know what you are talking about.
