Predict the starting defense Week 1, and by the end of the season

Recommended Posts

Our secondary has the potential to produce some major NFL talent in the next couple years. They love good size at the corner position and boy do we have some. I'm sure there will be a lot of rotating throughout the game because we have so many capable CBs but for some reason I think SJB and Seisay will get the nod. Two huge, fast, and physical corners.

How some of you are not putting our best defender on your list is mind blowing. Ciante Evans is a starting corner. He will slide to Nickel because of his ability in run help and because Bo's D doesn't have safety help for slot routes as often as it does outside receivers. When that happens a backup will play that outside spot. JP said this exact thing in July.

DE Jason Ankrah

DT Thad Randle

DT Kevin Williams

DE Randy Gregory

OLB Zaire Anderson

MLB David Santos

OLB Jared Afalava

CB Ciante Evans

CB Mo Seisay

S Harvey Jackson

S Corey Cooper

However against Wyoming we will play PESO so take out Santos and Afalava and Insert SJB and Jonathan Rose/Andrew Green

Haha. Good catch. If they allowed the golf club he could do well at safety.

Nailed it! This is our starting lineup. Only switch could maybe be moss or McMullen for Gregory to start the year. Gregory will be a starter at some point this season though.

Does the CB Rose still have 3 years left?

Yes. This will be his RS Sophomore year.

Him and Mitchell are probably our starting CBs next year - unless Charles Jackson moves back over to CB so Gerry or Singleton can take over safety again.

Pretty sure Cooper and HJax will still be around. I expect Gerry to contend/pass them, but it will be hard for Singleton to pass 5th year seniors.

Oooo. Fun game.

1st week:

DE - Jason Ankrah

DT - Thad Randle

DT - Curry interchanges with Valentine

DE - Moss interchanges with Randy Gregory

Buck - Jared Afalava

Mike - David Santos

Will - Zaire Anderson

Nickel - Ciante Evans

CB - Ciante Evans or SJB depending on whether we're in Nickel or not.

CB - Josh Mitchell

S - Harvey Jackson

S - Corey Cooper

The only changes that I think might happen by the end of the season would be:

S - Charles Jackson beats out Corey Cooper or Jackson. He'll find his way on to the field somehow. Gerry could maybe get some snaps too, but he is awfully young to take on a position with so many responsibilities in Bo's playbook.

CB - Rose beats out SJB, but still shares lots of playing time with him.

DE - Gregory becomes a full-time starter and doesn't split time.

DT - Collins works his way into playing time.

One note: I'm really curious to see what happens to Andrew Green this year. I think he could be a great fit at SS. He's always had some pop in his hits, but lacked the major speed necessary to stay with some of the major WRs.

BUMP CITY

DE - Jason Ankrah - McMullen

DT - Thad Randle - Curry

DT - Valentine - Nickens - Collins

DE - Randy Gregory - Moss

LB - Nate Gerry - Afalava

LB - David Santos - Banderas

LB - Zaire Anderson - Rose

CB - Josh Mitchell - Seisay

CB - SJB - J. Rose

Nickel - Ciante Evans

S - Andrew Green - Charles Jackson

S - Corey Cooper - No clue

Still torn on CB - Heard really good things about Seisay and I believe Jonathan Rose is just too good to keep off of the field...
