Manziel at Nebraska

I dont

It happens all the time- before conviction

The standard is not beyond a reasonable doubt

No way he is innocent

Did you know if he plays and the NCAA finds he did this- they vacate wins, vacate titles?

Unfortunately their administration and fan base value possible wins over integrity

Much of their fan base has said so very brazenly. They openly dont care if he did it or not. Another large contingent is hoping for an OJ defense, get off on a technicality or not quite perfect evidecne in place.etc

A tiny sliver of them are saying suspend him.

Real shame such a great Univeristy would let itself be tarnished by something like this. Brazenly saying catch us if you can, we dont care if he is guilty or not.

The kid already lied to them in March when another autographing incident came to their attention

It's part of why the Manziel family has been so testy with the A&M administration. This has been a VERY long time coming.

They knew they had a ticking time bomb for quite some time.

So were you okay with Osbourne letting LP and Christian Peter stay on the team then?

Ok youve done it 3 times in this thread

You know his hame is spelled Tom Osborne right?

Were you even following the team when that went down?

Ive addressed that situation 2 times already

Yes, I was following the team, thank you.

If I was a big follower of Nebraska and knew all the details you supposedly know:

I wouldnt be misspelling Osbornes name 4 times in one thread- obviously you think that's how his name is spelled

Pretty basic Nebraska football knowledge 101 stuff

Me punctuating you've correctly has nothing to do with my knowledge of NU football- spelling Osborne incorrectly 4 times in one small thread however does

Johnny Manziel would never have handed the football to Jack Hoffman.

Sure he would have. Right after he signed the football and Hoffman's jersey.

I think Manziel was the guy who bid all that money for the Jack Hoffman trading card but didn't pay.

Obviously he was waiting for the check to clear from his autograph session.

How would NU fans be responding to this situation if Manziel was at NU?

Uber rich spoiled brat, drives Mercedes, mom&dad move to College Station and buy big house for him and them, Spoiled, enabled, narcisisst

He makes slashing gestures after scoring TDs- no respect to his opps- trash talker

Gets into bar fight right across the street from the school- arrested etc

Gets caught with fake IDs trying to enter bars plural (big whoop)

Goes to Austin LAST WEEK to attend a Frat party on the Texas campus, wearing an A&M jersey- gets kicked out (University of Texas people HATE A&M)

Thumbs his nose at aggie fans and alumns via facebook and twitter

Takes PICS of himself with 1000s of $$ at casino and POSTS THEM on facebook and twitter- he's not old enough to legally drink or go into a casino- but posts plenty of pics doing so

Hires an idiot "uncle Nate" frat boy dweeb- kid quits school to be JMs "personal assistant", kid is total party animal knucklehead the exact opposite of who mom& dad should have hired

JM gets caught red handed signing 100s of items for a autograph broker in his hotel room- when it is WELL KNOWN that JM HATES signing autographs- he's not sitting down for 2 hours to sign stuff for free-

Kid is attention whore of the worst kind

Puts his team and program at risk for a measily $7,500, when his mom and dad bought him a $60,000 car and traveling all over the world flashing cash etc

Obviously he has said a number of times, he's gone to the NFL after this season- he doesnt care a hoot about his teammates, his team or the University- only himself

His mom and dad do a TV interview where they say they bought the car for him because "we didnt want him to be tempted in getting it another way". They also said they feared he was out of control and an alcoholic.

They all know this kid is guilty of this, pattern of behaivor, - not sharpest tool in the toolbox

Some good Aggies- a few are calling for the kid to fess up and step away

The MAJORITY are hidign behind the BS that the rules are unfair and everyone else is breaking them, so hands off

Others know he is guilty and are hoping to get off on a technicality- lack of perfect evidence OJ style

A&M is SO DESPERATE for that first real National Championship- they seem to be perfectly fine with trading integrity for wins

So much for the Aggie Code of Honor- I will not lie cheat or steal or tolerate those who do.

Lets not make this into a debate on if the rules are fair. The rules are the rules- are they to be ignored because someone is a good football player?

Mind you if selling autographs were 100% legal- rich alumns from the richest schools could guarantee recruits a MINIMUM of X $$$ to sign up, they just buy that many autographs. REALLY easy to pull off.

What happens here in Osborne or Pelini era?

Back when LP had his troubles, I remember MOST Husker fans were for tossing him, I know I was.

It's called a 'rhetorical question.'

Correct

This isnt beyond a reasonable doubt standard in any way shape or form.

But, I dont think that they have the ability to require non athletes or non staff to testify

Which is exactly why Cam Newton was allowed to play - and many others are still allowed to play.

They can have a picture of the poorest guy in the world with 10 million dollars but if they can't find the cash or proof of him taking the cash - then they can't do anything.

If they could banish every player they suspected of taking improper benefits, football would be a lot different.

Way back in the day I was sitting in the West Stadium, directly in front of a couple of well aged and successful business men from Grand Island. Enthusiastic fans both of them. Mike Rozier broke one for around a 60 yd TD..highlight reel type stuff....and after the noise died down and we were seated again, the one old boy said to the other "that ought to be worth an A in English and a night with some rancher's daughter". I about blew soda out my nose. The point is, even they knew that players get "fringe benefits". No problem with the fringe benefits from me either.

However, potentially jacking up your whole team's chances for a decent season and being publicly and repeatedly stupid doesn't fly with me and I'm sure a lot of people. Bottom line is, some will line up to support him and some will line up against him. Like it or not, the NCAA is the final arbiter in this deal. We'll see what happens. It will be another interesting thread to fill up inbetween the real game news this fall.

Manziel would have transferred anyway because Bo still would have went with Taylor....

And Bo would be looking like a genius right now.

Not really. No one would have cared about Johny Manziel's every bowl movement if he was a back-up at Nebraska, and his autographs wouldn't be worth anything. He would simply be the most popular player on the roster.
