For Our Next Amazing Trick...

I had the game on mute. Did they say it wasn't a fumble because the runner's forward momentum had been stopped? The Iowa State defender was streaking down the field with the ball before the Texas RB hit the turf.

i agree. i am wondering where they would have place the ball if it was overturned, as it should have been.

That call was so sketchy. IMO his progress was stopped before the fumble, but the whistle doesn't blow until ISU had the ball. If the whistle isn't blowing its a live play right?

So, if he would have pushed once more and gone over the line they wouldn't have given him a TD?

Forward progress isn't a reviewable play either. Is it? Maybe I am wrong.

Forward progress can not be reviewed. They said he was down. Obviously want enough evidence to say otherwise

i just mean that if they determined it was in fact a strip before the play was blown down, the defender would have taken it to the house, but then it was blown dead. so would they have just spotted the ball where the defender was when the play was called dead? i think that might be why they did not overturn the call. they just screwed the pooch.

My point of my comment was that I don't remember ever seeing a play like this where the RB runs into the pile, gets stopped, makes a second effort to stretch over the line and NOT give him the TD. So, on the flip side, if an RB can do that, they should still be considered in play and if they are still in play and the ball comes out then it's a fumble.

I am so glad we are not in the Big XII anymore. I don't find it a coincidence that this always goes in Texas's favor.
