ZRod
I stopped paying attention when they put FSU and Bama in front of Oregon.. That is such a joke. Well as defending national champion returning your Heisman winner, I think you're pretty much entitled to the top spot unless you lose. Quote Link to comment

BIGREDIOWAN
Just win, who cares where we're ranked then? Quote Link to comment
RedDenver
Aren't polls basically irrelevant now? Yes. But they're doing exactly what they were intended to do: spark debate. I think it'll be a few years at least before fans stop caring about the polls. Or at least care much less. Quote Link to comment
lo country
Everything possible to keep the SEC assured of 2 spots in the 4 team play off. Screw the polls. Just keep winning and handling our business. Can't control the voters, only our own results and performance.......... Quote Link to comment
Dr. Mantis Toboggan
We dropped one spot? How? Why? AHHHHHHHHHHH these things matter!!!!! Quote Link to comment
irafreak
I don't see a big issue with the polls. USC lost to BC after a big emotional win at Stanford last week. It happens all the time. Right now I haven't seen enough from Nebraska to believe they're better than any team ranked above them. 1 Quote Link to comment

Now you are whining about SEC favoritism when it isn't even happening. 7 teams in the top 15, they lose and stay up there. Keep your crying towel handy then, because you'll be using it all season. Their only OOC losses come from their worst team (Vandy may not win a conference game) and mid tier Tennessee losing to the #4 team. They won the rest, including the high profile matchups. The other conferences had a chance to knock them off the block and failed. So now you've got to deal with the voters figuring the SEC must be the best conference because of results on the field, and not penalizing in conference losses too much. BTW, who is the highest ranked team with a loss? Could it be a team from the worst of the big 5 conferences? The formula remains simple. Win all your games and you are going to be in, at least if you're from a major conference. Lose a game, and you open yourself up to the judgement of the pollsters or now the committee members, and it's not too surprising that they are going to lean towards teams from the best conference, as judged by results on the field. But ESPN keeps pushing the SEC in every way possible, right? Like holding game day once more in.....Fargo? Quote Link to comment
