GBRNation
He is an amazing coach and will do incredibly well at NU. I couldn't wished for a better choice except maybe McElwain is on par. Such a great hire!!!! 1 Quote Link to comment

southernoregonhusker
Most Oregon State fans have wanted Riley fired for three years now. His offense is antiquated and predictable. His defense is lead by Mark Banker and cannot stop a running QB. In the past five years, they've lost to two FCS schools (Sacramento State and Eastern Washington.) I, as an Oregon State alum, am in utter shock that my Huskers hired this guy. Yes, he's a nice guy. He also doesn't allow cursing on the sidelines. He treats his players like 12 year olds and he gets the effort of a 12 year old. Terrible hire. Terrible. Quote Link to comment
The Dude
This is a "anti-Pelini" hire all the way. He'll act like a professional and act as a unifier. If you were wondering if the players would like and want to play for the next coach, the answer is yes. This would have been a "big" hire a few years back when he had Oregon State overachieving. Remember folks, this is Oregon State were talking about. He's an underrated coach who has turned down USC and Alabama. Whether or not he pans out here, I don't know, but I like the hire. 2 Quote Link to comment
ColoNoCoHusker
I work with a guy that was a 3 year starter under Riley at OSU. His response to the hire - TO demeanor & there are worse things than being 3rd in B10 West... Quote Link to comment
presidentjlh
He's a guy that took an abysmal program and upgraded them to awful. So, enjoy mediocrity, Nebraska. Quote Link to comment
GBRNation
The DC will be the most important hire this year. If we had a decent defense, Bo would still have a job. Quote Link to comment
suh_fan93
He seems like he's a likable guy. After Pelini sure that's nice but do you hire a coach at a school like Nebraska based on how 'nice' he is? I'll give the guy a chance but at the same time Nebraska fans and myself have no choice. Do you see 'Bama or FSU, heck even Michigan making a hire like this? Quote Link to comment
huskerfan92
Also the defensive coordinator runs a very aggressive defense. Again total opposite of Pelini. When Riley's name first came out I was against it simply because it came so out of left field. But after researching him, I think he'll be successful. Looking forward to the next season Quote Link to comment
Warrior
This is amazingly awful.. IDC that he's a good guy.. He has a terrible track record as a CFB coach.. Hell at least Callahan had some success just prior to being hired.. I refuse to believe this was the best option for Nebraska.. Especially with "Resources not being a problem".. 1 Quote Link to comment

I hate that argument. Its the same argument that nearly got Gill hired here, look how it turned out for Kansas. We needed a proven winner.......we got the exact polar opposite. All of this "he's a great guy" rah rah BS is code word for participation award winner. Clearly we havent hit rock bottom enough to understand college football changed with conference expansion. We are applying old rules and thinking to a new environment. That assuredly spells disaster. 1 Quote Link to comment
74Hunter
He a allegedly covered up sexual assault of a girl named Brenda Tracy. Hes a horrible recruiter. Edit:Maybe coverup is the wrong word, but the article I read is disgusting. Quote Link to comment
