The 2016 Republican National Convention

JJ, I think you are partially right. Trump doesn't want to win. If it's not on his terms.

Maybe I give him too much credit for not being a complete babbling imbecile but, he has not done ONE thing that shows me he really wants to win. He simply cannot be that incompetent by accident. I would love nothing better than to have a viable option to Hillary and, I understand the attraction to some of his rhetoric and the anti-politics as usual approach but my God......some people need to wakeup and see who and what it is they are still supporting when it comes to Trump. Just imagine if he were elected and he took the same approach to anything as he is taking to supposedly trying to get elected. I literally just can't believe he still has more than 3 supporters left. He can't be serious.

It has always been a radical but plausible theory: Trump never expected to get this far, and deep down really doesn't want the job.

I also think he holds his supporters in barely concealed contempt, but they just keep feeding the beast.

I'm waiting for David Duke to be the guest surprise speaker to introduce Donald on the last day of the convention. Cherry on top.

Haha...or we could see Al Sharpton or Jesse Jackson, or better yet Louis Farrakhan introduce Hillary next week. That would be in alignment with the Democrats support for an organization such as BLM that has advocated the killing of cops. And guess what...another police officer has been shot in Kansas City.

Your image of a radical leftist Democratic party is laughable to both radical leftists and Democrats. And historians.

Obama and the Clintons could have passed as moderate Republicans for most of the last century.

And Ronald Reagan's words and policies wouldn't have passed the current conservative litmus test, no matter how much they love to invoke his name.

Wow, your posts keep getting better. You really think that Obama and Hillary are moderate Republicans. That has to be the post of the entire year on this board. And I think we've had this argument before as my response is that Bush 43 could then be called a moderate Democrat with your way of thinking. After all, like LBJ, he expanded Medicare and also engaged in an unpopular war. Do you agree that Bush is a moderate Democrat? Also, I am still not convinced Donald Trump is a conservative, yet he somehow won this years GOP nomination. Meanwhile, a self-described socialist was extremely close to winning the Democratic nomination...let's say that again. A socialist nearly won the Democratic nomination, and you are claiming that the Democratic party has not moved far to the left. Hillary is now talking about free education just as Bernie did.

I think I could buy into that (bold part). Initially and up to a certain point. But he's $55 million in, has come this far, and is fighting for it. I could also imagine that if he got sworn in as the next POTUS that deep down he might think to himself "Woah is this really happening?"

By the way, I think Pence is a solid conservative choice for VP representation of the Republican Party. Next, I have no idea what Hillary will do for her mate...

I agree...Pence was a slam dunk pick in that he's a solid conservative and also is a nice counter-balance to Trump regarding his style and persona.

Only caught snips of the overall activities but based on what I heard:

I've lost all respect that I once had for guiliani.

The general saying we can't be a country that deals in hyperbole on the heels of saying we are more unsafe than every as a country was a distasteful irony.

The strong arm tactics in putting down the floor call were typical of a trump campaign and disturbing.

Trumps wife gave a nice, but unmoving, speech. I don't care if it was plagiarized or not. Many speeches are. Hell, they probably hired the same speech writer. I just found it to be so bland that it was basically forgettable.

This isn't my Republican Party any more.

It's true, you can deny it all you want. The attacks are growing each day.

Terrorist attacks could grow by 1000% and it still would not pose the existential threat that America lived under during the Cold War; even leaving aside actual nuclear holocaust, our casualties and costs in conventional wars was higher than now.

ok, good point!

lol, how old are you? Because you can't be very old if you are making a ludicrous post like that.

Obama and the Clintons are about as Socialist as they come.
