No Interest In Purdue Game?

Recommended Posts

I've visited the board less since the 20 page MRI thread and whatnot. Just like I did when Polo ruined it for me. If I want politics I go to a political forum.

I come here for football and my beloved Huskers. Also, I like all the guys who know about recruiting it's fun to keep up on that.

The real truth is, besides Oregon early, our schedule has sucked balls and until we play UW and tOSU there isn't much interest in these games

Is it really that hard to find a pure football discussion on Huskerboard?

I click on Husker Football and we talk about Husker Football.

Out of thousands of threads, the Michael Rose-Ivey thread got into politics because politics got into football. It was super easy not to click on that thread if you didn't want to go there.

I didn't go there. I read pages 18-20 today for the first time in there. I'm just saying when there aren't new threads and hot topics directly relating to football I've spent less time here. That's all. I check in every day and when a 20+ page threda I have no interest in keeps ballooning without many new threads I do have interest in, I don't stay too long. No biggie.

I think most of the Big Ten teams are uninteresting compared to the Big 12. Purdue is as interesting as any of them, but you have to admit most of us know virtually nothing about most of the Big Ten teams, even after all these years. It's not like we look forward to anything but the big ones.

2016 is a strange and disturbing year, with plenty of distractions involving things more important than football.

That being said, I'm enjoying this Husker football season and looking forward to the first game that doesn't raise my blood pressure.

More or less strange than last year? As far enjoying the season, that's why we're fans right? An occasional blood pressure game is needed, but every week is a bit much.

I am interested, because if we slip up (tons of injuries at key positions still) we are in for a terrible terrible weekend.

Nebraska has to get by Purdue, stay healthy, heal up and prepare for their biggest two games of the year so far with Wisconsin and Ohio State.

But those games become nightmares if the Cornhuskers trip up vs Purdue.

I don't think those games become nightmares if we lose to Duey, remember we lost to them last year and then what happened the week after?

I HAVE BEEN INTERESTED IN THIS GAME SINCE MY GIRLFRIEND BOUGHT ME TICKETS FOR MY BIRTHDAY LAST MONTH! #NOTALLHUSKERBOARDERS

Congrads! That's awesome! Happy Birthday!

I would suggest that if we get by Purdue, then Wisconsin becomes the 'biggest' game in several years. We really needed to win the UCLA bowl game and it was a big win as it got the bad taste out of the mouth and spurred the players on into the winter conditioning etc. Now I am not yet completely sure about our overall team conditioning as we've really not played in really hot weather yet we've seen quite a few cramps, etc. But we have been a fairly strong team in the fourth quarter but I tend to want to credit some of that to the rather sloppy (lazy, take it easy) play of the second and third quarters. We seem to play hard the first 12 minutes and the last 15 minutes but in the middle 'rounds' we play rope a dope or something. We need to find the gumption and drive to play hard for every snap by everybody. This is how the somewhat less talented team can overcome and pull out the win over the better teams.

I agree 100% about the first 12 last 15 thing, for once I'd like us to play a complete game, although maybe you don't want to peak against Purdue.

For me, it's kind of the calm before the storm that will be Wisconsin. The entire season is riding on that game in Madison.

I also think there's not as much chatter about Purdue because the majority of the fan base seems to have much more faith in Riley to beat the teams he's supposed to beat.

DOMINANT! DOMINANT! DOMINANT!

That's what I want to see. With the way the defense gave up 5,204 points last season, you'd think they'd be fired up for vengeance. Gerry has already said as much.

I'd like to see the offense play a crisp game. Need to get that clicking so there's more confidence heading into Madison.

Oh, and the adjective is dominant. Dominate is the verb.

This is a game, by all factors has the markings of a beat down. A horrific run D, a highly ranked Husker team and revenge. Of course, it also has the indicators of a trap game....revenge, over looking them to Wisky, Riley's history, our history etc.....

This is the time to have a statement game. The time when a top 10 team, beats the brakes off an inferior opponent. We need some style points like Michicken against Rutgers......

I think the guys are focused. I think the guys remember a team that hung 55 on them last year. The team has finally tasted success and are top 10. They might be denied, but it won't be tomorrow.

There are far too many non Husker sports discussions on the board (far too many in politics certainly). This is a "Husker" board but I suspect a third to half the stuff is non Husker sports related. Although everyone has an opinion, far too many are founded on fiction and not fact based reality. In football, there is always room for divergence of opinion as to the best strategy and so on - this is the key aspect of the game that makes it the best sports game ever invented. Without all the variability, football might be as 'ho hum' as baseball or something, God forbid! Imagine how few posts would come forth if we were debating baseball. LOL

We are in the heart of a football season and the team is undefeated, yet the level of interest seems quite low. Yes, the team is not exactly 'lighting it up' with exciting big plays and dominating offense or even some great special teams. We are just winning in rather bland style and thank goodness we've not had to suffer those heart pounding last second hail marys and off the goal post field goals or double overtime gut wrenchers. But there is every reason to believe those may be just around the bend as the Husker football roller coaster ride is far from over. Perhaps, there is a degree of tension building (like the lull before the storm) as Wisconsin and Ohio State loom as dark clouds in the southwest and the storm warnings are being issued.

Excitement on these boards is usually a bad thing.

I think this is the opposite of a trap game. The players know 6-0 means nothing at all if next week they are 6-1. They know that this game is a must win in every definition. A loss to Purdue would put us in a very tough position in the conference race. A loss to Purdue after last year is embarrassing. A loss to Purdue with this start is unacceptable. A loss to Purdue with a chance to make this a magical season in the following two weeks looming is tragic. I think this team understands that and is focusing 100% on having a complete and determined effort on Saturday. If that is the case it will be very difficult for us to lose this game.

DOMINANT! DOMINANT! DOMINANT!

Oh, and the adjective is dominant. Dominate is the verb.

THANK YOU!

I read this misspelling a lot on this board, and it irritates the crap of me. That, and various misspellings of "corps" drive me nuts.

As far as Purdue, we haven't yet shown the kind of "dominance" that would allow us to be overly confident in any game. Maybe that's a good thing.

We need to collectively get over the "waiting for the shoe to drop" mentality. It's like we are an abused dog, scared of the next embarrassing loss.
