TGHusker
I understand Gov Stitt used her as an example of overreach in one of the ads used against the medicaid expansion bill. I voted for it - it is the right thing to do. For the state of Okla to approve it is a big accomplishment. Maybe people are starting to think that good govt does mean small govt but govt that meets the needs of its citizens and priorities that as #1 importance. 1 Link to comment

My guess is the fear stems from - she's a smart, educated, well-spoken, minority, fearless, woman, who pulled herself up from a modest up-bringing. She basically embodies what the right hates/fears. Yep. Before the Ohio primaries, I had ads pop up on Youtube about some Ohio house race in which the ad accused the Dem candidate of being in league with AOC's "socialist agenda." The only reason for her name to be brought up in an Ohio race, just like Oklahoma, is that she is indeed the boogeyman! Link to comment
Guy Chamberlin
The GOP and all it's fundraising tentacles desperately miss Hillary Clinton. It's hard to underestimate what a huge asset she's been to them for the past 30 years. They are hoping AOC can take her place. Or Nancy Pelosi. Being a woman helps. I believe Ted Cruz and his operatives found this old clip of AOC from her Boston University days and thought it might be scandalous. Boy, do those guys not know how to read the room. She's adorable. 2 Link to comment

I’m not sure what was supposed to be wrong with this but it might let more people know she has a college degree. Posting this as if it’s bad is sexist in and of itself. Women politicans are damned if they’re too serious and damned if they’re too fun, or at least that’s how it’s been in the past. Hopefully that will go away. 1 Link to comment

Or is moving away the best option? There's another topic where we were talking about what the GOP might learn if they lose the Senate and presidency. I don't think they'll learn anything. One step at a time. Removing Trump is the most immediate, pressing threat and is priority numero uno. It's encouraging to hear Dems (even Joe Manchin!) suggest they may abolish the legislative filibuster for a Biden administration. This would mean they could really govern and provide real, significant reforms instead of piecemeal, piddly stuff we've grown accustomed to. And they'll have to, because if they don't govern in a way that people like, Republicans with unified control can accomplish all their wishlist items as well. So they'll have to govern and message in a way that's broadly popular even with some Republicans, even though that seems impossible. I'm not sure how you convince Trump's base not to vote for Tucker in 2024. We'll just have to hope whomever runs to succeed Biden can beat him resoundingly. 1 Link to comment

I hope you're right, but I think Biden and the Dems will continue to govern in the same way they have for the past 30 years - doing what's best for their richest donors. I don't think they really even care about beating the Repubs, just maintaining their own power and influence. Link to comment

Trump and any similar 2024 candidate has to be soundly defeated. It may take 2 or 3 election cycles to get this done. Link to comment

Moiraine
My only problem with the AOC video is that the first guy is wearing a tent and he’s not hot enough. What’s the pt in watching college kids dance if I have no desire to ogle them? 2 Link to comment

I mean you don't see Trump out there using creative property without permission!!! Oh wait... Link to comment
