Trump Foreign Policy

Recommended Posts

Thing is, he's not doing any of it. He hasn't laid the groundwork for renegotiating NAFTA, the Iran deal, TPP, none of it.

His whole point in office so far has been to claim these are all "bad deals" and bail out of them, with these ridiculous claims that the countries we just reneged on are going to be dying to renegotiate in better terms for America than before.

Yeah, none of this should be a shock, because yeah, Trump campaigned on all of it.  But that's why the majority of people voted against him.

The damage Republican voters have done to this country will be felt for decades - and that's if Trump were to stop now.  It could take generations to recover from this.

And none of it benefits Americans.  It's so frustrating in its foolishness.

Reaching ONE of these deals in a Presidency is huge.  They are very difficult to accomplish because every country has it's priorities and really, no country has ultimate power over another one.

NOW....these blubbering idiots think they can:

1)  Renegotiate TPP.  Not with the group.  BUT....these Einstein are going to go from country to country negotiating deals.

2)  Renegotiate NAFTA....once again.....with each individual country.

3)  Renegotiate with Iran....Oh....it only took decades to get the deal he just pulled out of.

4)  Negotiate a deal with North Korea that no President has been able to do since the 1950s.

Oh....and let's not forget....he has gutted the State Department that would be helping him negotiate all these deals.

Idiot.

it's almost like someone wanted trump in office to tear down america and it's world wide influence

Why the hell would North Korea agree to any deal with us now when the next s***forbrains who gets made fun of by the sitting president and gets his feelings hurt and then gets elected will just pull out of it?

CNN has a headline stating Trump is now isolated from the world. That's wishful thinking. It's the U.S. who is more isolated and will suffer from his moronic actions, not him.

Just to add - I'm tired of hearing about the Democrats' lack of platform. The status quo, and not making such idiotic, brainless decisions like this one, would have been a million times better.

And, if they hadn't put up the worst candidate they could find......they would be having the chance to run the country.

killing the deal benefits iran and their russian and syrian allies.  iran is no longer forced to withhold on their nuclear ambitions.  and syria and russia have another nuclear capable ally in the region.

The people who benefit are the warhawks like Bolton that want to go to war with Iran and the defense contractors that profit off wars.

Let's be honest, Trump doesn't actually understand what he's doing, not in the slightest. He understands the JCPOA to the extent it has been downsized on Fox News. That is the only prism through which he's ever understood this pact. Oh, and he understands it was implemented under Obama, whom he hates.

This is a sterling example of a man who doesn't understand a lick of what he's doing being led astray by his party's talking points. The literal extent of his understanding is one part conservative rhetoric about how awful it is & one part Fox News vitriol. He's been aided & abetted by people who know better, like Pompeo & Netanyahu. Of course, the latter desperately wants the ability to posture more aggressively towards Iran. Both Netanyahu & Trump of course have their own domestic corruption problems they'd prefer to distract from, and this would be a useful way of doing so.

To the broader point in this thread - it's much easier to break things than it is to create them or fix them. Take Tillerson at the State Dept - showed up, drove out legions of our best talent, tried to dramatically cut their budget, was overruled on most everything by Trump, and left. Trump's been outstanding out the latter because it's easier. He's failed horribly at producing much in the way of new creations or solutions to serious problems we face, particularly in foreign policy. His domestic record isn't much better, IMO.

I'd love for an Iran Deal critic to go beyond the GOP Fox News talking points and explain why this is actually a smart move. Seems to me it's just another sad mark in his legacy of further isolating us & making us look weak & lost on the world stage.

Idiot.

Don't forget that he will solve the Palestine / Israel conflict by moving our embassy to Jerusalem.  Israel will be naming a square in his honor for this.

stupid Trump.  Instead of renegotiating the deal - we aren't even at the table - anywhere.

Under Trump we have opened the door for greater Chinese influence in the Pacific Rim countries -- PPT

Our friends in Europe have an untrustworthy partner - which will diminish our influence at the best while increasing  Russian influence in that region at the worse

We insult our closes neighbors Mexico and Canada - good grief - think what other nations see when they look at what we are doing with Nafta.  If we treat our closest neighbors this way, how will we treat others.

Don't forget we backed out of the Climate Change treaty also -

We start steel tariffs - which negatively affects our friends - and which will ultimately cause costs to go up here.

How does any of this build our country, our industrial base, our status in the world?  Make America Great Again??  We are becoming smaller in the world's eyes by the week if not by the day.   You know Obama was criticized for 'Leading from Behind'.   I will take that and being a part of the world community in comparison of leading out of ignorance and arrogance.

Good post Clifford.  Ignorance is in charge now. Let the people weep.
