Danny Bateman
New charges in Florida. He tried to delete servers using his head custodian. At this point this is just braindead Watergate and the guy millions of people want running the country makes Fredo look like a bonafide MENSA member. 3 Link to comment
Scarlet
Wasn't there some posts around mid-Juneish on here about the recording of Trump flashing around Defense Department plans on Iran and those posts were questioning the usefulness of that recording without those plans being produced in evidence. I'm just going off memory but...... 1 Link to comment
Scarlet
A question for the board constitutional scholars. If this guy runs from prison and is elected can he then self pardon? I mean we're breaking new crazypants ground all the time so why not? Asking for MAGA hopes and dreams Link to comment

Congress needs to close this loophole of a felon being able to run for president. A constitutional amendment would be needed to close the loophole. Interesting article on the whole thing here: https://www.politico.com/news/2023/04/06/trump-running-for-president-prison-00090931#:~:text=There are no legal obstacles,or even from behind bars. Quote There are no legal obstacles to running for president as a convicted felon or even from behind bars. And if Trump finds himself in that predicament, he’ll be following in the footsteps of another rabble-rousing populist and frequent presidential candidate: the avowed socialist Eugene V. Debs, who received nearly a million votes while in prison a century ago. Quote States remain free to exclude felons from the ballot for state and local positions, just not federal ones, Mazo said. “In the states, we have different rules,” he said. What would happen if a person in prison actually won the presidency is a thornier question. Would the new president have to govern from a jail cell? Probably not. Many legal experts argue that a state-court sentence would have to be held in abeyance. Whether a federal sentence would also have to be postponed is less clear, but the question might not matter if the new president used his pardon power to set himself free — or preemptively pardon himself from any pending federal charges. (The pardon power covers federal crimes, but not state crimes like the New York charges for which Trump was indicted this week.) Stebenne noted that Trump has extra motivation to win and dodge whatever charges federal prosecutors may be considering against him. “It provides a strange reason to run, but a powerful incentive,” the professor said. “If Trump attempted to do that, it would probably create some sort of constitutional crisis.” Link to comment

You have to think past the current situation with Trump. Many states have laws preventing felons to vote. Those are being challenged and changed. Allowing one to run for office is a logical step in that direction. Maybe the proper idea is to have laws preventing someone who is currently serving a sentence as a felon can not run for office. Guy Chamberlin
I'm no legal scholar, but how do you prove criminal intent when the tape recordings of the accused are almost entirely jumbled and incoherent sentences? 1 Link to comment

He gets caught, does his time and truly reforms himself. He goes decades being a model citizen and contributing to his community, raises a family and becomes very successful....bla bla bla.... That person should be banned from running for office? Link to comment
