BIG ERN
Everyone posts better numbers at pro day compared to the combine which is why it isn't as important, especially the hand timed 40 Quote Link to comment
Nebfanatic
Can Tommy Armstrong be a productive NFL wide receiver? Maybe with that speed, 4.6 ain't bad (rounding up with hand time) Quote Link to comment
BIG ERN
Can Tommy Armstrong be a productive NFL wide receiver? Maybe with that speed, 4.6 ain't bad (rounding up with hand time) No. You would have to compare him to guys who have been playing WR for 4-12 years. He isn't as agile as the few who have converted. Who knows about his catching and route running. Simple as I wouldn't take him over Reilly, Moore, or Westerkamp and that's 3 kids just at Nebraska who weren't invited to the combine Pryor is 6'4 and runs a 4.4 Edelman is shorter quick guy who also ran a 4.4 Braxton Miller and Denard Robinson ran a 4.4 Matt Jones was 6'6 and a 4.3 - 4.4 Quote Link to comment
Making Chimichangas
Can Tommy Armstrong be a productive NFL wide receiver? Maybe with that speed, 4.6 ain't bad (rounding up with hand time) I would think Tommy would be a MUCH better running back at the next level. Maybe he could even get some snaps at HBack or TE (off-set off the line). But WR? Not saying impossible...I just think body type wise he's more suited to RB. Quote Link to comment

suh_fan93
Tommy was performing as a TE, not a WR Oh my. This would not be pretty to watch. TE? You have to wonder was this his idea?!?? Quote Link to comment
Nebfanatic
The reason I brought up wide reciever other than that he was working there is I think he is far to small for an NFL TE. I agree Making Chimichangas that RB would be a more ideal position for Tommy. Any way you put it in think he is going to struggle making a roster only because he is a career QB. I think he would have a much better shot had he played another position throughout college Quote Link to comment

And all of Armstrong's other numbers match up pretty nicely with Edelman. Bench: Edelman - 14 Armstrong - 16 Vertical: Edelman - 36.5 Armstrong - 37.5 Broad Jump: Edelman - 10'03" Armstrong - 10'03" Quote Link to comment

From a measurable standpoint that is a very solid comp Edelman's agility is on a different planet than Armstrong's. Again, he won't play in the NFL T Mart ran a 4.4, 39 inch vertical and a 10'9'' broad jump --- doesn't always matter Quote Link to comment

ColoradoHusk
Have any players been more crapped on during and after their NU careers than Martinez and Armstrong? Maybe I should throw in Eric Crouch. 1 Quote Link to comment
