NUance
Eagles got a steal in my opinion. ^This. There were 18 safeties taken ahead of Gerry. Just no way he ranks that low. No way. Wouldn't surprise me to see Gerry starting for the Eagles someday when half the guys drafted ahead of him are already washed out of the NFL. Quote Link to comment

alwayshusking
Interesting that the Eagles project him as a linebacker Quote Link to comment
NUance
IIRC, He played LB at Nebraska before he played safety. We recruited him as a safety, but we had a much more urgent need at LB when Gerry was a true frosh. Quote Link to comment
EmeraldIngot
Not necessarily. Gerry doesn't have elite speed as an NFL safety. However, his downhill attacking style, coverage skills, physical build and speed make him a good choice as a versatile LB in thr NFL. Quote Link to comment
swmohusker
Think this is a perfect role for him. Not athletic enough to be a safety. Will need to tackle more consistently but has a good skill set to play closer to the LOS Quote Link to comment
The Dude
I thought he got most of his tackling issues cleaned up his Senior season. Quote Link to comment
ColoradoHusk
I think he can be a good LB for passing situations. He has good tackling skills and decent coverage skills, if he's not asked to cover a lot of space. His best skill is reading the QB and making a play on the ball. He could be a good LB in zone coverage or even playing man to man on a TE. Quote Link to comment
