As expected there is absolutely no good non-partisan reason to radically change our elections

You are exactly right: people have been able to vote by mail for decades; it's safe and reliable, so much so that Your Boy and His Wife That Wants Nothing To Do With Him requested their vote-by-mail ballots a few days ago.

tRUMP is delusional -  he thinks he deserves a 3rd term.  Let's put him out of his misery by mercifully kicking him out of the white house with an overwhelming vote.   Note in the story - he spoke to a crowd of a few hundred :laughpound

PRESIDENT Donald Trump has claimed that he will seek a third term in office because his 2016 campaign was "spied on."

Trump made the statement at a rally in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, on Monday afternoon, despite presidents being limited to the number of terms they can serve.

Speaking Monday, Trump said: "We are going to win four more years. And then, after that, we'll go for another four because they spied on my campaign. We should get a redo of four years."

Speaking outside an aircraft hangar to a crowd of a few hundred, Trump said that a Biden victory in November would replace freedom in the US with left-wing fascism.

Trump said: "Fascists. They are fascists.

"Some of them, not all of them, but some of them. But they're getting closer and closer. We have to win this election. But the proud people of Minnesota will not let this happen."

Kasich speech.  Excellent.  Boy the GOP blew it in 2016. The atmosphere would have been totally different wt Kasich as president instead of tRump.

Former Ohio Governor and 2012 Republican presidential candidate John Kasich delivered his DNC speech at a literal crossroads on Monday night — calling for all Americans, regardless of party, to support Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden.

“America is at that crossroads, sometimes elections represent a real choice. A choice we make as individuals and as a nation about which path we want to take at challenging times. America is at that crossroads today,” Kaisch said, standing at a crossroads.

“The stakes in this election are greater than any other in modern times. Many of us have been deeply concerned about the current path we have been following for the past four years. It’s a path that led to division, dysfunction, irresponsibility, and growing vitriol between citizens. Continuing that path will have terrible consequences for America’s soul because we’re being taken down the wrong road by a president who has pitted one against the other.”

The former governor continued with his crossroads metaphor and asked his fellow Republican viewers to choose “a better way forward” — noting that “many of us can’t imagine four more years down this path.

Kasich ensured viewers that he is still a proud member of the Republican party but noted that this is not a conventional election before he praised Biden’s faith and his character.

“He knows that path to a restored America lies in respect and unity and common purpose for everyone,” he said of Biden. “Yes, there are areas where Joe and I absolutely disagree. But that’s okay. ‘Cause that’s America. Because whatever our difference is, we respect one another as human beings. Each of us searching for justice, and purpose.”

He went on to say that no party has all the answers but that everyone should come together to change what is happening in the nation today, clearly referring to President Donald Trump and his administration. He assured Republicans and Independents that Biden will not steer them in the wrong direction — touting him as a reasonable and measured man.

Weak rhetoric.  She should have went harder.

Listening to her, I think she was trying to point us to a higher moral standard and character.  While she attacked Trump and his not being up for the job, there was a higher note she was trying to reach - 'appealing to our 'higher angels'.   It wasn't her job to destroy tRump - others will do that.  Her job was to encourage people to get out to vote for a more empathic way

A couple who pointed guns at Black Lives Matter protesters outside their home in St. Louis will play a part in next week’s Republican Convention.

Mark and Patricia McCloskey, who hit the headlines in June when they accosted a group of demonstrators on a private street armed with a rifle and handgun, have reportedly been scheduled to appear on behalf of the president.

GOP sources confirmed to the Washington Post that the couple had been booked for the largely virtual event, in an apparent attempt to energise the struggling Trump campaign.

The time for that has passed.

No it hasn't. It is always the right time for empathy, compassion, and character, and it is more important than ever. Those are some of the traits that differentiate decent human beings from Trump and his followers. It doesn't mean we shouldn't be angry, of course we should be, we need to desperately hold on to the core value of caring.

Trump is really reaching.... all the way back to 1872 ... in trying to get the suburban white woman vote.    I'm fine with the pardon but it is a bit contrary to his other actions.

WASHINGTON (AP) — As he works to curry favor with women voters, President Donald Trump said Tuesday that he will pardon Susan B. Anthony, a women's suffrage leader arrested for voting in 1872 in violation of laws permitting only men to vote.

Trump's support has been eroding among suburban white women in battleground states since his last campaign, in part because of his harsh rhetoric.

Trump held a White House event to announce the pardon and sign a proclamation declaring August 2020 as National Suffrage Month. But he and the women assembled for the event quickly pivoted to the upcoming election and the outcry over Postal Service disruptions that Democrats say endanger the voting rights of millions of Americans who would vote by mail in November during the coronavirus pandemic.

“Win, lose or draw, we have to get it right,” Trump said of the November vote count, leveling a fresh offensive against mail-in voting.

"You can’t have millions and millions of ballots sent all over the place, sent to people that are dead, sent to dogs, cats, sent everywhere," Trump said.

In fact, voter fraud has proved exceedingly rare. The Brennan Center for Justice in 2017 ranked the risk of ballot fraud at 0.00004% to 0.0009%, based on studies of past elections.

Only nine states currently have plans for “universal” mail-in voting, where ballots are sent automatically to registered voters. Five of those states relied on mail-in ballots even before the coronavirus pandemic raised concerns about voting in person.

Trump said he would sign “a full and complete pardon" for Anthony later Tuesday, the 100th anniversary of the ratification of the 19th Amendment, which ensured women the right to vote. It’s also known as the Susan B. Anthony Amendment.

In recent weeks, Trump has been trying to build support within the pivotal female voter constituency and has stepped up his events aimed at women. His campaign has launched a “women for Trump” bus tour and the president has embraced a “law and order” message with renewed vigor.

What the f#&% are we doing anymore? This man shouldn't even be on the ballot. Its ridiculous.

Trump voters and members of the Cult of Trump.  Gullible, enablers, deceived and we have a senate made up of the same type - Trump should have been impeached and be in jail by now.  Yet, we have to fend off his and Russia's attack on our democracy.     Reagan would be rolling around in his grave - Lincoln and Ike as well.

This better hit the news big time.
