Mavric
Reports out of UCF say it is "extremely likely" that Chinander moves with Frost. Doesn't sound like UCF is really looking at Walters as a permanent replacement though he might be the interim HC for the bowl game. Didn't give any indication he might be going with Frost. Scarlet Overkill
We're so nice we're taking the burden of hiring the staff off Scott's shoulders. #NebraskaNice Quote Link to comment
Mavric
Quote Seven of his nine assistants started in Orlando with Frost when he was hired. The only holdovers from George O'Leary's tenure are UCF graduates Sean Beckton — the recruiting coordinator who transitioned from coaching wide receivers to tight ends — and defensive backs coach Travis Fisher, an eight-year NFL veteran on his second stint at his alma mater. Two more are Nebraska graduates in offensive line coach Greg Austin (2006) and Ryan Held (1998). Austin, defensive coordinator Eric Chinander and defensive line coach Mike Dawson each have years of experience working with now-UCLA head coach Chip Kelly, who tutored Frost at Oregon and is one of the 42-year-old’s biggest football influences. Dawson and Frost, though, never worked together until arriving at UCF. Still more are tied to Frost from his time at Northern Iowa. Chinander was there for five years. Jovan Dewitt, who coaches the Knights’ linebackers, coordinates their special teams and serves as associate head coach, succeeded Frost as defensive coordinator in Cedar Falls in 2009 when Frost became Kelly’s wide receivers coach at Oregon. Quarterbacks coach Mario Verduzco was at UNI from 2001-14. Offensive coordinator and receivers coach Troy Walters has looser ties, spending 2013-15 as the wide receivers coach and recruiting coordinator at Colorado while Frost was at Oregon. The coordinators, Walters and Chinander, are both highly thought-of in the industry and, save perhaps a head coaching opportunity elsewhere, Frost is almost sure to bring both to Lincoln. Only hangup would be if Kelly lured him to UCLA Word is Kelly has one of his other former assistants going to coach OL at UCLA so I would guess this would be a lock now as well. Quote Link to comment

QB - Current UCF QB Coach Mario Verduzco - I would say this is about a lock. Ties to Frost from when they were at Northern Iowa and Frost said he used a lot of what he learned from Verduzco to help Mariotta and others at Oregon. RB - Current UCF RB Coach Ryan Held - Another lock as he's a former Husker as well. WR - Walters is the current WR coach but if he doesn't come along perhaps Keith Williams would get a look. Frost doesn't seem to have as many ties to current UCF TE Coach/Recruiting Coordinator Sean Beckton so perhaps he could try to fit Williams into the Recruiting Coordinator role. OL - Current UCF OL Coach Greg Austin - I would think this would be a lock as a former Husker, was at Oregon with Frost and has NFL (Eagles with Chip Kelly) experience. Only hangup would be if Kelly lured him to UCLA DC - Current UCF DC Erik Chinander - Multiple reports that Frost will do everything he can to bring Chinander with him. I had previously seen rumblings that UCF would look to him as their next HC but haven't seen that recently. LB - Current UCF Associate HC/LB/ST Coach Jovan Dewitt - No real idea here but I'm assuming if Frost likes him enough to make him Associate HC he must value him pretty highly. Has ties to Frost since Northern Iowa and has been some sort of coordinator (DC/ST) at various stops every year since 2003. LB - Current UCF Quality Control Administrator Barrett Ruud - Rumored to be in line for the 10th assistant spot at UCF when it goes into effect this spring would be a natural choice for the 10th coach here. Could have two LB coaches in a 3-4 especially if Dewitt keeps other responsibilities. DL - John Parrella - Taking a stab here. Current UCF DL Coach Mike Dawson doesn't seem to have deep ties to Frost, he probably won't bring everyone and Parrella would be a handy one to still have around in Lincoln DB - Donte Williams - Another stab. Current UCF DB Coach Travis Fisher doesn't seem to have long ties to Frost (again not bringing everyone) and Donte's recruiting prowess and west coast ties would be really handy. Fisher is also a UCF grad so perhaps he sticks around there. Staff - Just throwing out a couple with ties Current UCF Chief of Staff/Director of Operations Gerrod Lambrecht - graduate of Concordia University (Nebraska) Current UCF Director of Sports Performance (Football) Zach Duval - Former Husker Power assistant from 1994-2002, including time as a student assistant. Word from UCF is Verduzco, Held, Austin, Chinander, Ruud and Duval are the ones coming with Frost - at least at the moment. Beckton won't be coming. No for sure word on the others but the first six sound pretty confirmed. Walters may be in line for the head job at UCF. He and Dewitt are a bit surprising - though not if Walters gets a promotion - but other than that basically what I was guessing. Definitely opens up spots for Parrella, Williams and Williams. Chinander might be the only one coming right away. Frost doesn't want to decimate the staff before their bowl game. 1 Quote Link to comment

Was the Passing Game Coordinator/WR coach at Oregon when Frost was there then took over as OC after Frost left. Makes a lot of sense. Would be a direct transfer of duties from Walters. 1 Quote Link to comment

Lubick would be a good hire. He has pretty much mirrored Frost up until when Frost left for UCF. He's done well for himself at Washington and would be a good fit with the rest of the rumored staff joining Frost in Lincoln. 1 Quote Link to comment

With several former Huskers looking to be on the staff, he would also - along with Chinander - be a one that would seem to have some more West Coast connections for recruiting. Spent time at San Jose St, Oregon St and Arizona St in addition to Oregon and Washington. He was at Oregon St under Erickson, in case you were wondering. A few West Coast ties along with what they've (presumably) built up in Florida the last two years would be really handy, IMO. Quote Link to comment

He'd be great, but he also wouldn't be here very long. He's going to be a head coach again very soon. Considering all of the staff turnover we've had in the last decade, I'd like to get a DC who's going to be here for several years. Quote Link to comment
