Was this announced today? I didn't know it was confirmed.

Pretty cool for him. I really like the way Frost let everyone know this is going to be a team effort. What a 180 from Bo thinking he knew better than everyone else. Finally doing it the right way.

With all due respect BRI, (and perhaps there were posts after what I saw), but the question was posed as to why he was leaving broadcasting, and people wondered whether his political comments during shows might be part of it, in addition to the comments about the fb program.  Seems a big aggressive to delete contributions by members when indeed they were on topic.

My suggestion is that everyone should move on with this topic, stay on topic and leave the politics where they should be. There's nothing else to be said on the decision.

  • Mavric changed the title to Matt Davison Now Associate AD for Football
Quote

He’s a close friend — perhaps the best friend — of new Nebraska coach Scott Frost, and he helped Athletic Director Bill Moos land Frost from Central Florida. His new role will be “some sort of associate athletic director for football” position that’s designed to have Davison serving both Frost and Moos.

“I’m going to be there to support Scott and support Bill,” Davison said.

Davison has been around Husker football since he arrived as a player in 1997. He played four seasons for the football team and played for Danny Nee’s basketball team, too. Davison said he’s believed for at least 10 years that Frost would eventually become coach at Nebraska. The timing was right now.

“I know he’s a special guy,” Davison said. “He has an ability to relate to players and get the most out of them, and he’s brilliant on the X’s and O’s. It’s a really good combination.”

It’s still unclear whether Davison would continue in his role as a Husker Sports Network analyst.

OK...let me throw this out there.

One concern I have is that Frost (and everyone else) right now is very comfortable with Moos.  He's done a fantastic job and is exactly what Nebraska has needed as an athletic program.

BUT....he's over 60 years old.  We've witnessed what a bad AD can do and I'm concerned about who is going to come in after Moos ultimately retires.

Wondering if Davison is being groomed for that job.  To my knowledge, he has no administrative experience.  But, if he works under Moos for 3-4 years, he may get the experience needed to do the job.

He also has been involved with the basketball program so it wouldn't be solely concentrated on football.

I doubt it. Matt is there to help out Frost.

And this is putting the cart before the horse a bit. Let's give it a few years before we start getting concerned about replacing Moos.

Sure...as a fan.

But, it's something Mounds and Green need to be concerned about and planning ahead.  It's not like Moos is 50 years old.

I alluded to this in my original post.

The longer Davison works under Moos, the less this is an issue.  Maybe Moos is going to be here 10 years.  Who knows?  I doubt that though.

The longer Davison works for Moos, the the less of an issue this becomes, but also means that Moos is here for longer. I think this is an issue that doesn't matter for years.
