Maurice Washington Faces Charges

Recommended Posts

Name other universities that allow a player charged with a felony to remain on the team until the trail.

According to the papers I read on line a WI player was charged with a felony and was not only dismissed from the team but from the university for a year.

After a jury after only 30 minutes of deliberation found him not guilty he was reinstated as a student and the team.

Washington is playing because "He is the only back with enough speed to get to the edge".

The Wisconsin player was accused of sexual assault. Washington is not. I'm sure there are loads of examples of other players staying on teams, probably in this topic. Happy hunting.

That Wisconsin player could also now seek damages from the University under the same Title IX laws he was prosecuted under. (according to a Title IX conference I went to this summer)

Just a guess, but maybe the difference is because anyone not intellectually dishonest can see that the child pornography is a BS charge

I mean, he had a video of a minor engaging in a sex act on his phone.

The point is not some fan's opinion if the charge is bogus or not. The DA has legal and moral obligation not to charge unless he is certain a crime has been committed.

Does not anyone from the AD and HC care about the reputation of the school? What about the President of the school? The latest US News has NE at the bottom of the academic ranking in the BIG. This Washington episode does not help.

NE is more than its football team.

Why are you still blabbering on about this?  He served a half game suspension and now its in the courts hands.  In all likelihood it is dropped or settled with community service over the summer.  They arent going to ruin this kids life over something stupid that he wasnt even directly involved with.

I can't understand why V01 and R01 declined to bring charges against the perpetrators in the video when the detective gave them that opportunity. Yet they want to prosecute S01. Again, they don't want to go after the people who were actually in the video allegedly raping this girl - let that sink in. Something about this is not adding up and its super shady, imo.

This is just a guess and I know this may sound cold but I think they want to go after MW because if they can get a guilty conviction then they can take him to civil court when he is in the NFL for $$$ because of the emotional distress that he caused.

FWIW, I'm not defending what MW did.

And no one is. What he did was completely and utterly wrong. But bits like this are important for context.
