I know the general rule of thumb (for DBs) is to keep them in front of you (WRs) to avoid a bigger play happening.  It's common for many teams.

 

But I do agree the cushions are a bit too much at times in nearly every game. As Buster pointed out, it makes it easier for QB to just dink and dunk before there is any pressure.  Seems like most Big Ten teams have figured this out about us, and know that we usually don't make adjustments.
