This reminds me of the old story of the elderly lady who lived alone. One day it started raining. The river started rising and overflowing the banks. Soon, it was to her door. First responders come with a small boat. She says, "No God will save me". The waters keep rising. The next day they come with a bigger boat. Again, she says, "No, God will save me". By the next day, the water is so high she is sitting on her roof. A helicopter comes by and again, "No, God will save me". Well, the water kept rising...finally swept her away and she drowned. When she was at the pearly gates and finally met God, she asks....why didn't you save me? He said, I tried....I sent you two boats and a helicopter. I know it's an old joke, but these people are being idiots. God created the earth and he gave the experts the ability to learn how to deal with these situations and give advice on how to deal with them. If you ignore them, you're ignoring what God provided to you to help you. Idiots.

To be clear my mom was not confirmed with C19. She has a presumed case. I'm starting to get pretty upset at Regional West in Scottsbluff because they are still refusing to give her a test. She is being told what she experienced this morning was an anxiety attack but she does not think that's the case at all. I am dumbfounded as to why they would tell her she is just having anxiety days after she was diagnosed with a presumed case of COVID and is coming in because of an extreme coughing bout and weakness to the point she couldn't move and almost passed out. Not sure in what world anxiety is the first conclusion there but that's what they are saying. I'm hoping and praying they at least CAT scan her lungs

And to anybody that knows someone with this, tell them to really be careful even when they think they are out of the woods. You've probably heard it before but I'll say it again. I was talking with my mom on the phone yesterday and she said she felt great, better than she has all week. This morning she is in the hospital because she woke up coughing for 30 minutes and almost passed out. This stuff is absolutely no joke and we should be doing everything we can to keep as many from catching this as possible. Edit: my mom is 44 years old.

I've never been in the military either. But, my understanding is that a commander has the duty to follow orders.....unless they are illegal or he feels that the situation puts his own men/women in unnecessary danger. He didn't feel the military was dealing with the situation properly. So, he took his own actions to keep his sailers safe. It affected his career. But, I bet if asked, he would do it all again for their sake.

I love that story, I use it a lot. I also like the saying "be the answer to someones prayer." It means that prayers only work if "people" make them work. "Thoughts and prayers" are only good if we allow people to get involved. And what religion you follow doesn't matter.

I thought of this post after seeing a post from one of our HB posters, @Nebfanatic, mentioned his mom was ill with C-19 I wanted to create a thread where posters can tell us how C-19 is affecting them personally. Do they have family members, close friends or others that they know personally who are ill. Is the poster ill with C-19? This is a place they can tell us about the situation and vent if needed or seek encouragement (hopefully we can be an encouragement) for their specific situation. Also, we may all eventually know of someone personally who has died because of C-19. This could be a place where someone can share what this person meant to them without of course giving away the personal information we all maintain on HB. I just wanted a place if someone needs to vent - they can do it here and not on one of the other threads where their grief may get lost in the news of the day. We are all in this together and as a united humanity we should encourage and lift each other up and support each other as best we can on a message board like HB. While we may oppose each other politically at times, nothing transcends politics like a shared grief, concern, and desire for the best for our follow man. (Ok Husker football also unites us all when politics divides - his is after all Husker Board). PS. I realize the poll is just a snap shot in time. Hopefully votes can be changed if the situation changes. I hope all votes are no and never have to be changed.

I'd say its slightly different from a cruise in that the Navy has their own facilities to house and take care of its sailors. Why not make room at a navy base? I don't agree with leaving the cruise ships on their own either but at least passengers can quarantine in their room and likely maintain some level of social distancing. That can't happen on an aircraft carrier AND the Navy has the facilities to alleviate this situation.

They'd both be much better than Trump. I'm committed to helping vote for whoever will get Trump out. However, I can't imagine a more uninspiring candidate than Biden. You're assuming Jared isn't lying when he implies New York doesn't deserve access to taxpayer-funded national stockpiles, or that they haven't used whatever resources they had available. You should not assume that.

Curious about why a person would do this. Nothing in the past three years suggests he can be taken at his word. He hasn't done anything to be given the benefit of the doubt. Can we just touch on this gem from Slumlord McFailson last night? It struck me is incredibly dimwitted at the time and Spanberger nailed it. It's hard to pin down exactly what he thinks this stockpile is for. Maybe it's supposed to be used only for a national emergency that doesn't take place in any individual states? Lebron and Jordan have different styles of play, and they are both very comparable in terms of overall talent, IMO. But what really set Jordan apart was his competitive fire. He didn't want to win, he needed to win, and would step on your throat when he had the chance. When it was time to take over a game, his sheer will became more powerful than his talent. Lebron is great, but his fire never burned the way Jordan's did. If the championship is on the line, you would want the ball in Jordan's hands 10 times out of 10 compared to Lebron.

The only way Biden wins is if Bernie supporters show up for him but even if they do they still wont be given any credit. You are the person charged with making the responsible decision here. You. You have to vote for someone. Expecting Trump's opponent to have to earn your vote is passive. You, the "responsible voter" need to make a responsible decision. Proactively choose to vote in a way that sees Trump out. Expecting Trump's opponent to EARN your vote is you sitting back, passively, saying, "Convince me." If you haven't been convinced by the last four years... man. What have you been looking at? I would get them off of a ship where they have absolutely no chance of social distancing and allow them to be in a setting where they can all self quarantine. Not all of them are going to end up in the hospital but some will and there is no telling who that is going to be. Letting them all get infected is in no way shape or form a plan that should ever be considered

He's the captain who wrote a letter to the brass begging to be allowed to go to port to treat his crew because over 1/4 of them had coronavirus, and the rest were going to get it in such cramped quarters. His ship was losing operational ability due to the spread of the virus, and nothing was being done. As a result, the Pentagon (and maybe someone higher up than that) relieved him of his command. Clearly his sailors have more respect for him than the bureaucrats in Washington.
