      +1 for Handbrake. And don't buy a DVD player. We have one, and we have never used it. Get a cheap tablet, like a Nook (Barnes & Noble) or the Kindle Fire. You'll get tons & tons more use out of them. Use Handbrake to rip your DVDs and put them on the tablet and you're good to go.
