  1. So excited that Nebraska received a commit from Westside kicker Tristan Alvano. I watched him in action during the state high school championships. He is really really good!

Some of those field goals he made would have been good from 55 yards.

I know!  I’m looking forward to watching him play in the fall!

Michigan's kicker has been so good for so long, if this kid can kick half as good, we will be in very good shape.  I'm excited too!

  2. So proud of our own Zach Taylor’s Cincinnati Bengals! They advance in the football playoffs!’

Position coaches, I believe, but not a head coach.

Also, why no love for Zach Taylor from Nebraska's media department?

@VectorVictor I don't get that.  Why not be proud and splash that all over the internet just like they would with an NFL player?

  3. So sad to hear that the Arkansas St. coach's wife has cancer. (I heard it on Big Red Wrap Up).  That's tough

  4. So sad we couldn’t keep Wan’Dale Robinson here at Nebraska. He’s playing so well today for Kentucky. But home is a big draw for some kids.
(I also didn’t know his dad had been in prison for a lot of Wan’Dale’s life. But now his Dad is free and with Wan’Dale they have set up a foundation for kids whose parents are incarcerated. )

  5. So sad. My NWMSU Bearcats lost today for the first time in two years. Amazing run but sad:(

      I know. Blah!

  6. Something that hasn’t been mentioned is that Scott could just resign. I’m sure many people would cheer if that happens but I hope he gets one more year. However, he’s going to have to do some major housecleaning with his staff if allowed to return.

Why would he voluntarily give up $20,000,000?

I don’t think he’s going to leave. I say give him one more year. He will have to make some serious staff and player changes in order to have any chance of keeping his job after next year.

      Minnesota_husker

He isnt going to resign. That would imply he is a "quitter". He will just wait till he is fired. I do think he has sort of lost all hope and in some sense has quit-mentally.

  7. Suh just tackled Rex!  Patriots vs Dolphins!  It's funny when former Huskers play against each other!

  8. Thank you to all who contributed to the Let Us Pray thread!!! I’m so happy to see it in completion (even though I didn’t get to write on it this time-I have a house full of people at my house) Now we will win. (Well , on my planet at least :D)

  9. These boys are rattled. That initial interception took the air right out of them. One of the other quarterbacks need to come in until Lee gets his head together.

    1. JJ Husker

      JJ Husker

Agree, Lee needs to go out.

  10. This game is sad. Refs are pitiful but the Chiefs are just being out coached and Brady is just picking them apart:(

  11. Towards the end of the MSU game the announcers were talking about how exciting it was going to be to have ScottFrost coaching Nebraska next year! It's so nice to hear Nebraska spoken of in a positive light again! GBR!

I can't remember what game it was, but an announcer was saying  something to the effect. that they couldn't wait until Nebraska was back where it belonged-up in the top 10 again.  They said that when Nebraska football is at its best it helps college football overall.  I agree.  (Moiraine-noble effort!  I like Frostion! :)  I don't know about anyone else but I enjoy the Canadian sitcom, 'Corner Gas'.  It's about a small town called 'Dog River'.  Anyway, in one of their episodes two of the characters were getting ready to play a trivia game.  One of the characters said, 'Ok, get frosty.'  which meant get ready to play to win.  So to the Big Red I say-GET FROSTY!!!)

@ladyhawke I think the Michigan State-Washington State game was on FOX, so the color commentator would have been Joel Klatt.  I think Klatt is the best analyst announcer in the game.  He's a former Colorado QB under Gary Barnett who knows his stuff.

    4. ladyhawke

      ladyhawke

ColoradoHusk, glad someone else heard that too!  Klatt is good and always seems to have a good word for Nebraska.

Actually, I would make them #2. If Alabama or Georgia wanted that they maybe shouldn't have lost any games, and either one can still get #1.

    3. Enhance

      Enhance

The CFP committee has been pretty consistent - UCF didn't play a tough enough schedule and is being penalized for it. I think they have a point but only to a degree.

I don't think it's wholly fair and a system should be in place that would allow a team like UCF to compete for a title. There just should be. That said, should an undefeated team that played the 54th strongest schedule get a spot over say a one loss team with the 6th tough schedule? I think that's dicey.

    4. zoogs

      zoogs

Yeah, I just feel like they got penalized enough by missing out on the playoffs. Then they played a pretty legit team on New Year's. SEC. Beat both MNC finalists, right? Supposedly they were going to get creamed, finally. And they didn't just show they belonged, they beat Auburn. #2 is the only fitting consolation I think. It doesn't actually mean anything. If other teams feel like they deserved it more maybe they should have avoided losing games. If we all want this to be more clear in the future than don't have a 4 team playoff.

  12. Ugly but a win is a win! Defense gets the game ball!

@BigRedBuster I don't know if that's her legal name, but Cayman Nebraska is her name on her social media and whatnot. Reminds me of the Michael Vick/Ron Mexico thing lol

I didn't know that being born and growing up in Pennsylvania makes you a Nebraska native.

I think that no matter what UCF does, they'll get left out of the playoff. The Committee will find a reason not to include them, if for no other reason than that it'll kill TV viewership.

I'm sure you're right but their story just pulls at your heart strings. Kinda like the small town team going up against the Goliath team (e.g. Hoosiers). Gotta love their spunk but we want their coach!

I loathe DA. Hated him ever since went to camp at CU and treated us small town teams like s#!t. POS in my book. Which was weird considering hes from a small town. But a big ego can do that to you.

  21. What are some things that receivers do that just drive you crazy? I hate it when the qb throws the ball to the receiver and he runs sideways or backwards thinking that he’ll get more yardage but ends up losing yards because he gets tackled! Run straight up the field!!!

    1. admo

      admo

The only thing I dislike is when a WR is going deep and flops/creates a PI call, instead of trying to catch the ball.  Kenny Bell did that a ton of times, and it did benefit us.  But when he didn't get the call, he blew the chance of trying to catch it.  Lots of receivers do this now, and not only on deep routes.  They hook their arm under the DBs arms.  By the way, Defensive Ends have been doing this technique on offensive tackles for years, to draw a holding call.  I hate it.

    2. BigRedBuster

      BigRedBuster

@ladyhawke are you talking about after the catch?  If so, it drives me crazy.  A guy catches the ball.  But, instead of running straight up field, he runs to the corner...for what seems like no reason.  I know sometimes a defender might have an angle on him, but so often they don't.

    3. ladyhawke

      ladyhawke

BigRedBuster, that’s EXACTLY what I’m talking about! Makes me crazy!

  22. What awful officiating during these championship basketball games! I watched the B10, Big12, didn’t matter where it was those refs were terrible!

    1. TonyStalloni

      TonyStalloni

It’s only going to get worse as fewer people are choosing to enter the ranks at the high school level. I recently heard figures that said the average age of refs in Nebraska at the high school level and above was mid to late 50’s.

    2. ladyhawke

Yeah, I had thought of Les Miles too.  Wow.  I wonder if Scott would consider him, considering his son is on the team?  But I suspect that this first year, at least, Scott will use all of his own staff and then go from there.  Exciting times folks!
