Tough one. He played terrible against WYO. Hopefully he sees it as motivation.

1 gap is tough against that type of offense. I'm anxious to see if he does it against the likes of Michigan St, Penn St, Iowa, Michigan and so on. A little more convention, and a bit more chance of causing disruption. Hard to cause disruption in Wyo's offense. It was just to quick and too lateral at times.

I watched the defensive highlights and honestly there was only a few times Smith held the ball more than 3 seconds. We didnt bump and run much. I'm not even sure the object of our defensive strategy was to try in the secondary.

That kid is spectacular. Knew right out of high school as a lot of us did. It's a testament to that fact when the coaches trusted him so early in his career out there.

ST punt & KO coverage looked good. Not good on that extra point though.

Punt team could have been better. Against more athletic teams we probably would have had a punt blocked.

oK guys. I'm a lay it here from my perspective. I've rewatched the game twice now. no where near as bad as it seems. Some things to build on. I counted 14 plays defensively where we had at minimum 6 freshman and/or redshirt freshman on the field. It was the first game. I understand the concerns, but there has to be perspective that can allow some patience. last night was against a veteran offense and a qb that will probably be playing in the NFL. Yeah, I just rewatched it today...totally different when your up in the stands. I saw some very good things...the d-line did get a solid pass rush for a good portion of the game, I don't know what people are smoking when they say we didn't get a pass rush at all. NEB pressure Smith plenty of times...count how many times he left the pocket..PLENTY.

Smith was just incredible. Theres no doubt about it.

It's unfortunate that the last 5 minutes cloud the rest of the game. There were a lot of things to be happy about before Wyo really started scoring. Which wasn't until the pick.

It's absolutely ridiculous to claim that WYO outplayed, out coached, or was the better team tonight. You turn the ball over in the fashion they did, you lose. We deserved to win the football game tonight and we did.

That first Wyo pick was due to Kevin Kugler. He jinxed them. Told about Smith's record of 181 passes in a row with no interception. Two plays later, interception. Thanks Kugler! LOL

I will reiterate completely. If you couldn't see the hold on our left Rush End on that last play, you are a moron. Plain and simple. Our defense has been bad at times and it also has been good at times. Exactly how I expected it to be with a young defense playing a QB that is good. But if you can't see the holding calls that have directly effected our ability to stop swing passes, you are a moron.

And you don't think that the calls could be reciprocated for Wyoming. I've seen us get away with a few. We are flat out getting outplayed.
