      Don't get me wrong, I love what I do for a living. It's just garbage that post-docs pay what they do. The next stage of my career should come with a 20-30k raise. Unfortunately that's two years away.

    Anyone know anything about car repair? 2011 Ford Fiesta diagnosed with a bad purge valve. Can't find the part for the car anywhere online. Repair quote also seemed super high. Wondering what I'm missing.

      Seattle is the answer to both of those questions. I'm relocating for a post-doc but it's expensive out there and post-docs make no money. Plus their housing market doesn't open up til 3 weeks before the move in date.

      The closest least expensive burb is Renton, everything else is Bellevue, Redmond, Mercer Island...essentially really wealthy burbs. I have a buddy that is a real estate agent out there and most HS and college friends moved back to Seattle area. Any particular part of Seattle you're looking into? West Seattle, Eastlake, Cap Hill, Beacon Hill, Queen Anne? I can ask some buddies for their opinions.

      You don't drive with ABF. They drive for you. We moved from KC to ATL. They drop off a trailer, you pack your secktion, put up a wall, they pick up and drive to your new home. You unpack and they pick the trailer back up. We had 3 days on each end. You pay for the space you use. Just a suggestion.

      Their training is interesting too. I don't think it would make sense as a lay person, but as someone in the field the choices are curious. Three MD's on staff and one person with a counseling psych degree. MD's get very limited exposure to behavioral interventions and tend to focus on medications. Counseling psych can be pretty hit or miss, don't have time to look at her background in detail. I'm sure the staff trust who they have, but it's always a curious thing f...
