shyndy
im guessing we will be looking for a couple early pa passes to loosen the run D in this game Quote Link to comment
Landlord
1. Kyler Reed's advantage is that he's fast for a tight end. You move him to receiver and he no longer has that advantage. 2. Mike McNeill was an incredible tight end who suffered from not getting thrown to. Seriously, he was close to being elite. That's all I have to add to this thread. Quote Link to comment
Hunter94
So......if the running game suffers tomorrow because of lack of perimeter blocking, does Bell feel the backlash and a lot of poster start calling for Kinnie again. I will be watching with interest because BK has straight planted DBs into the sideline on runs this year and last. Easily the best blocking WR on the team, and the best thing is he is sustaining his blocks 15-20 yards down the field. then tell TM to keep him blocking and don't throw the damn ball to him....he missed 7 throws last week against Freak-sho. Blackshirtsguru
Lets not kid ourselves....although BK isn't that great we have to look at the type of passes that have been thrown to him. I lost count at how many of Taylor's passes were either behind the receiver or under thrown Yes he has dropped some one's that he should have caught but the majority thrown his way were tough to catch for any receiver. I really home that Martinez starts improving his pass placement or we are in for a rough season once we hit the Big 10 schedule! Quote Link to comment

That is true probably. Taylor missed probably seven throws. Either high, wide, or his favorites behind and at the ankles. If Taylor would at least get the ball near his receivers waists he'd probably be a 60-65% passer. So I will echo Blackshirtsguru in his thoughts. Yes BK has had some drops, but easily half of them would have probably been drops in the NFL as well. I honestly wonder if some people realize how hard it is to adjust to a ball while running full speed the other way. Just sayin......it ain't that easy. And how quicky is it forgotten to some how much they were lauding getting BK the ball een more last year. Funny how it works as arm chair QBs/coaches. Quote Link to comment
Igetbored216
I have been pretty impressed with Enunwa. He's showing some pretty good promise and has very nice size. Not the fastest offensive player, but definitely looks like he can catch the ball. Quote Link to comment
EZ-E
BK has to catch the football. Plain and simple. The pass that TM got to him on the 2nd drive of the 2nd half on 3rd and 12 has to be caught. It wasn't perfect, but a Big Ten receiver has to make that play for his team and move the chains. They are not saying BK isn't going to play at all, just that KB is going to start. Not that unreasonable since they will both probably play equally. We put too much stock into starting at different positions. Its not the guys that start the game, its the ones that come off the field after we have won, or the ones we trust in big situations with the game on the line. Quote Link to comment
bshirt
I can watch almost any cfb game and see some wr make an outstanding catch or two. I agree with the coaches that our wrs are responsible to make the catches if they can get their hands on it. Surely it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see the difference between a N. Paul/BK & a Peterson/Swift. If we set the bar so low that only perfect passes are expected to be caught other teams will leave us in the dust in that crucial part of the game. It can be argued that it's already happened. Time to raise the level. GBR!! Quote Link to comment
The Dude
I really doubt benching BK had anything to do with fan's grumblings. Quote Link to comment
HuskerGBR
I haven't seen any games yet, so I can't say anything EXCEPT...I see WR's all over the country making plays on the ball. I haven't seen that from the Huskers in a while, but maybe this year will be the year. Oh and if people are correct and Kinnie is hurt (and it is affecting his performance), then maybe he should sit. Give him time to heal up. I can't wait to see what Bell can do...I just hope it doesn't cause problems in the run game, because he is kind of small weight wise isn't he? Quote Link to comment
flatwaterfan
i think Marlowe is a lot like Curenski Gillyen, lots of speed, but not real good hands. i doubt Curenski gets to touch the ball this year. My guess would be his hands are fine otherwise he wouldn't be back their catching punts & Kickoffs. My question about Marlowe is his ability to get open/separation. Quote Link to comment

Turner made a pretty great adjustment on one of the long balls last week. And, I don't want to be a jerk, but I remember BK dropping a perfect throw in the spring game when he wasn't injured. (But the injury could be making him drop more than usual). Quote Link to comment

girlknowsfootball
Here is my analysis: Kenny Bell, Quincy Enunwa, and either Marlowe or Turner get the start at WR today. BK is still going to get a lot of playing time. If BK has a blowout, catch everything thrown at him game, I think he gets his starting spot back next week. But if BK doesn't and KB does then KB secures the start next week and BK gets a little less playing time every game he drops passes. Regardless of what happens today, it is comforting to know that our wide receiving core is much much deeper with level 1 talent this year than it was last year. Instead of having just Niles Paul and BK, now we have 4-5 guys who can all make big plays and all have to be guarded equally on the field. We have Quincy Enunwa, Jamal Turner, Kenny Bell, Brandon Kinnie, and I truly believe from what I've been hearing that Taariq Allen and Jordan Westerkamp are going to play out for us as big time next year as well. What we have this year that we didn't have last year is a tripple threat, multi level offense with 3-4 great RB's in the backfield, 2 great tight ends, 4 great WR's, and a Quarterback that is faster than all of them. Defenses are truly going to have to guard all guys on the field because we are able to attack from all angles if needed. Once the O-Line starts opening up some holes in the middle and giving Taylor some time to wait for the full pass play to develop it's really going to open all those avenues up even more and I truly seeing our offense just getting better and better each game.
