Yeah, I forgot they were independent, lol. But money talks, you know? Can BYU realistically match what we can offer? I say no but if he gets a massive pay raise like to say 1.5 mil a year, I don't think we can pay him $2.5 mil a year. At that point, we'd have to really whip out the check book. Plus, Dantonio is pushing 60. Not sure how much tread is left on those tires. Wouldn't mind Frost or Morris if we could dole-out the big money and gank Dantionio's DC, Narduzzi is a beast. UNL fired a 9 win coach already and couldnt get anyone to take the job until you know who got fired for the dumpster fire in Oakland. So. Miss fired a guy with 9 wins and look where they are. I dont know what the answer is. Just food for thought. Not a Nebraska fan of course but I'd think it would be a real coup and great for your program if you could get Petersen from Boise. There were rumors Alvarez was trying to pull him to UW but obviously we couldn't pull it off or the rumors simply weren't true. I know he has no real ties to NU but I think he's a great coach who has probably peaked at what his school is capable of. If that doesn't work just wait two years until BB is ready to ditch Arky. I think that if Dantonio leaves MSU for anywhere it'll be for South Carolina (his Alma Mater) when Spurrier retires. Pat Fitzgerald would be great but I'm not sure if anything would make him leave Northwestern. Quote Link to comment

BYU is owned and operated by the LDS church, which has quite a bit of wealth, and they took the football team independent for the purposes of exposure. If they felt that Mendenhall, or any other coach, was the key to furthering their mission, I bet they would pony up the dough to keep him. Quote Link to comment
