He's the 3rd coach this century to not to (thus far anyway). Like I said. Probably more a Nebraska issue. And i would say a spoiled brat fans issue as well.

should frank really be included with the other two? he did win a conference champ. and get us to an mnc. and if this is a nebraska issue rather than just our current coaches' issue, an issue both msu and wiscy have overcame, i am pretty worried about the future of our program.

Ah yes, name calling. Nebraska was winning championships quite regularly from the 70's until the end of the 90's. They're currently in the longest drought in several decades. I do not think one in 15 years is too much to ask for given the commitment to winning the athletic budget reflects, the mission statement of the coaching staff, or the talent the teams has had in recent years.

Still dont remember Bo putting a deadline on that wanting to win championships. Made it to three title games, no reason he couldnt this year. Maybe wait until we have a couple losses to throw this season under the bus?

bo did not even specify what kind of championships. in my book, he already has three. pretty good for his first 6 years. now he just needs a little more time to start winning those championship games. my only concern is that the B1G should start getting more competitive. but every year we get a more experienced coach and staff.

We're all spoiled brat fans. If that's what youre referencing. Probably the most spoiled fanbase for the better part of 40 years. And with each passing mediocre year, we get more and more demanding.

It's about this century though. Frank tenure started to go down the toilet in this century. That's what Polo said. This century. I know he's not saying it, but it's not like Frank and Callahan lit it up for 8 years, and then Bo took over and gave 6 years of ho-hum 9/10 wins with no championships. No one can deny the fact that Bo's 6 years were an upgrade over the previos 8-in this century. Hence, this is not a Bo problem. It's a "rebuilding Nebraska" problem. But I'll agree that we still dont know if he's the one to do it. But I'm of the opinion that at his current rate, this program is better off just keeping him, riding him, until he gets "it" done or the wheels fall off. Yes it sounds like purgatory, but that's just what I believe.

The goalpoasts for Nebraska have not moved with any head coach. Believe it or not, even Tom Osborne struggled to win the conference in his first 10 years.....even though he took over a program that had won back to back national championships. Those goalposts remain firmly in place.

On your point, Tom Osborne won the conference in his 3rd and 6th seasons while reeling off six consecutive Top 10 finishes and berths in the Sugar, Fiesta, and Orange bowls. Oklahoma won two national championships during this period. He also won the conference in his 9th and 10th (and 11th and 12th) years.

The first season in which Osborne's Huskers didn't finish in the Top 10 in at least one of the Coaches and AP Polls was his 17th.

Actually, Tom didn't win the big 8 until his 9th year. Those other 2 years he lost the "winner take all" game against OU, which is the same as losing a CCG.

What I've noticed is everyone is so hung up on the coach being the one that takes the team to the top.......

Look at the evidence and it's obvious the coach has some value, but the players are the important factor especially the QB.

TO had good teams with average QB's, when Tommie came to NU, TO had the exceptional player he needed. Auburn's title was all Cam Newton,

Texas had Vince Young, what both had were good defenses to go with them. Tommie Frazier had great defenses as did Scott Frost, Most NC are won with great defense and a QB that's an above average college player. All this credit given to the coaches is BS, yes they do have some influence in the outcome of games, but they don't step on the field and play. How many of you posters actually played.

Saban couldn't do squat before he got to bama and had the choice of top talent. Meyer did ok at his stops, but he is a master recruiter, yes much better that Saban IMHO.

Coaches are valuable in assembling the talent, getting them to buy into the system, and keeping the players to toe the line. other than that, they have little influence in the outcome of most games. Albeit coaches like saban who call for a long field goal that he knew his player couldn't make, and give the game away. Coaches do have some input.

Let's stop placing all the credit and blame on the coaches. It's the right players playing together that bring home the hardware. GBR.

As a side note, I'm hoping JS is our next TF.... the D and the recruiting is improving, it's only our fourth year in a new conference, I look for great things from Big Red, if they don't happen, then they don't. I for one won't be slinging arrows at the coaches or the players. They did the best they could with what they had to work with. Sometimes S---t happens and that' life. Roll with the punches and stop being a bunch of finger pointing cry babies. Especially if you've never pulled on pads, which by your post I doubt many of you have.
