It followed the league's worst showing in non-conference play in 22 years, one in which Big Ten teams lost six of nine games and had national college football analysts howling about the conference's lack of strength.

As NU fans we can sympathize with Michigan fans somewhat. Their program is a couch fire that is burning hot right now. We were there just a few short years ago and it's no fun. Since we don't play them this year it won't benefit us unless we poach a few of their recruits which is doubtful. In the long run we need them to be better and competitive. We won't get to the top playing little dogs.
